Sol Zilphara
Age
20
Gender
Male
Appearance
Despite his fairly soft, younger looking face, Sol looks quite scruffy. Atop his head lays an unkempt mound of fairly long, golden blonde hair with visible darker roots. Dark brown, puppyish eyes look out from a clean-shaved, childish face with pinchable cheeks. He doesn't stand too tall in stature, only reaching roughly the 5'6 mark. Although seemingly thin below the waistline, his upper body has a decent muscle mass to it for one his age from his work in the mines. He wears a simple, dirtied emerald green t-shirt which contains a darker pine-colored leaf design on the lower right corner of it. A casual brown belt separates the shirt from darker brown work pants that are littered with coal marks and grass stains among various other unknown marks. He wears two brown, tight, hunting gloves passed down from his mother, worn from two generations of habitual archery. A small, light brown quiver made of leather rests on his back. All in all, Sol's radiant hair and young features mesh interestingly with his more ragged and unkept looks, making him seem younger or older depending on whatever angle one may be perceiving him.
Sol is an ENFP. His name, meaning sun, is very atone to his personality. The meshing of his parents' and other close relatives' thirst for life's adventures which have influenced him strongly along with his somewhat strict and moral upbringing have led him to crave freedom and excitement. Anyone that comes across Sol will acknowledge that his bubbling and fun-loving attitude is sure to brighten up anyone's day. To his friends, which he quickly makes and usually has many of, he is a clown, and always the life of the party. To acquaintances or work partners, Sol can seem very charismatic and ordered, taking things seriously, although his focus is often waining. This, however, is simply a facade to his more childish personality.
Due to his parents' teaching on living life fully and meaningfully becoming engrained in his very being, Sol loathes mundane tasks or strays away from people who consider such tasks to be vital to life. Although he may settle with working a boring job for practical reasons, his purposes for doing so will almost always run a lot deeper than that. One may call him an idealist, but carried by impulse and emotion, Sol may surprise anyone with his tendency to make extreme changes or radical decisions in his daily life or the lives of others if he sees it's necessary.
Sol also thrives on adventure, like his parents did, the one thing so far that he's found to be truly exciting in this world. He yearns to unwrap life's hardest questions, discover things unknown to anyone else, and experience everything there is to experience. He enjoys getting to know the aspirations and truth behind every person he comes to know, hoping that they may shed some light on what this life is all about. He's always one to explore or discover anything yet to be uncovered, whether tangible or not, - and proud of his finds.

Mining - Apprentice: Even in his best trade, Sol isn't too well adept. He's learned a lot from his dad but hasn't faced some of the more dangerous or harder aspects of mining at the moment.
Archery - Competent: A hobby taught by his mother who was very good with the bow, Sol has been shooting since he was able and spent a lot of time honing his skills in his free time growing up.
Farming - Beginner: Sol picked up some of the basics from Rook, but he definitely couldn't do any more than simple planting on his own.
Healing - Beginner: From his time with Snow Sol only remembers some of the most basic first-aid procedures. And what paigo seeds do.
Carpentry - Beginner: Sol can still remember some of the general principles of carpentry taught to him by his dad, and could probably make a few simple wooden objects. Other than that he's pretty clueless.

Not always up-to-date, but pretty regularly updated. These are mostly for my memory on Sol's thoughts on people - so don't think too much of it. I use first person because for some reason it's easier for me to connect that way here despite the fact I use third-person in my RP. I'm not sure why that is.
Adreanna: An attractive young woman that is pretty uptight. Maybe that's not the right phrase - perhaps just ordered? She seems nice enough but a little too structured and not fun to hang out with too much.
Bishop: The ol' cousin just isn't the same as he used to be. I mean, he's still a cool guy and all but... what happened to his adventure? His passion? His zeal? His tomfoolery? What happened to Bishop? I'm scared that this town may bring me the same fate if I'm not careful. Regardless, I know he'd always be there for me.
Hara: An exotic and beautiful woman. Rhise, she's crazy as nether spawn and has definitely got a mad punch, but I wouldn't say she scares me or angers me like she seems to do to everyone else in this town. In fact, she's pretty fun to be around since she's always on her toes. There's something much deeper to the woman than what most people see - she longs to be appreciated; to be loved. And I guess, for some crazy reason, I love her. Unfortunately, she seems to have a blood feud not only for those in Nightveil, but also every other place she's been along the way. I didn't realize how hard it was to take care of someone with so many enemies.
Songs: Fix You / She Is
Kane: I never really rubbed well with Kane. Upon our first meeting he seemed rather uptight. Upon our second meeting he seemed like an arrogant asshole; he ought to watch his snippy attitude with Lapis.
Lapis: Thank Rhise for her. For some reason her presence and soft words always calm me. She seems to be able to sense when somethings bothering me, and like my other 'cousins' she genuinely seems to care about me.
Oro: Although his businesslike mentality is kinda unnerving, and he has a bit of a cocky attitude, Oro seems nice enough. I appreciate his ability to be so self-reliant, and wouldn't mind learning a thing or too from him - which is exactly what I plan to do.
Rumny: Interesting woman. Extremely chill, I love it. She seems to be an adventurer at heart like myself, and has fond memories of her hometown and the life there. In fact, the place sounds pretty damn amazing to me even - though I may have to ask for her hand just to gain some admittance it seems. I don't think I could have chosen any better of a work partner for me if it was my choice to begin with - completely relaxed (the opposite of most people around here).
Zaira: I hadn't thought I had meant so much to Zai in Auria, but her tears upon seeing me again have made me realize I'm a bigger part of her life than I thought. I'm finding I care a lot for the girl and I'm not gonna be able to let anyone bully her around.
Zarkaylia: The scarred elder is pretty intimidating. She seems to run things in Nightveil. Others have said she was cruel or uptight, I get the impression that she's simply biased towards her blood ties. For an older lady, she seems to have a significant amount of life left to her.

Family
Pain. Blood. Wailing. Fear. On this day they were not the signs of death, but of a newborn life. Life was different; for this family it was good. No hateful fires to burn their homes, no icy hearts to control them, no warring kings to enslave them – whoever thought the Forbidden Lands could be so forgiving? How could it be that, despite the violence infesting a realm plagued by civil wars, a baby boy was born and held in the arms of a loving mother as a gentle father watched over and didn’t shed the lightest worry that they may be taken away by death’s cold grasp? But even yet, it wasn’t just this family in particular. Families, the everlasting symbols of hope, remained even in the deepest corners of the middle realm and the darkest clutches of death; even such evil as the civil wars could never end such a valuable good. This particular family consisted of: 1) Nikitia: A young, beautiful mother with cascading blonde hair and eyes of deep sapphire. She sought adventure in all things and believed children were useless and evil. 2) Timothy: A gruff, strong, teddy-bear of a father whose heart was programmed simply for love. The man enjoyed eating apples, stroking his beard, and keeping his wife pleased (quite a feat). 3) Sol: A newborn baby named after the sun that set upon his parent’s romance every night. The infant would prefer to explore the immense world he was just born into but was content with being in the loving arms of his mother for the time being.
Getting Shaped Up
Sol was born in 25 AV far from the violence of the civil wars in the small, warm, township of Auria. Once a friendly home to many, the town was now an even friendlier home to few following a volcanic eruption in its recent history. The tightly knit community quickly embraced the newcomer as it did with every other, nearly suffocating him in importance. In comparison to the mainland, such traits might profile Auria as a utopian paradise – and most who had lived on the mainland saw it that way. However, to one raised on Aurian soil, particularly one as young-hearted and curious about life as Sol Zilphara, the tiny settlement quickly became a bore. Sol’s parents pushed him towards various apprenticeships, most of which lost the buoyant boy’s interest in a matter of days.Sol was first introduced to carpentry when forced to aid his father on his side-job since mining was “too dangerous” for such a young child. Although through the years he picked up a few useful things, and was entertained from time to time with some of the mechanics, for the most part Sol found woodworking to be a bore; this would often lead to disaster. After the “hammer duel” incident with his younger cousins Knight and Ruby, Sol’s father decided to let him try out some new areas.
The boy was next assigned around age eleven to learn some things about healing from Aunt Snow. Although Sol found medicine even duller than carpentry, Aunt Snow’s scary demeanor was enough to get him to focus on some of the most important lessons and stay out of trouble for the first few months. Eventually though, foolery began to trump fear. When several mishaps finally cumulated into the “paigo seed incident,” Snow’s mentorship with Sol was through.
Next up was working as Uncle Rook’s farmhand. It was lifeless, humdrum work, especially for a thirteen-year-old kid. Sol stuck with it for a while though, for a few reasons: 1) Bishop, another, slightly older ‘cousin’ of sorts lived on the farm (he was Rook’s son). Sol became good friends with him for a time, releasing energy with some exploration or horsing around in between work from time to time. 2) Bishop’s sister, Lapis, who didn’t work on the farm as much but was often nearby. Sol hardly spoke to his female ‘cousin’ (he hated to think of her like that) but had a bit of a liking for her after they once shared some softcore eye contact. 3) The leniency of the Connors’ household was paradise compared to Sol’s own home. Ezri or Rook would sometimes even hook him up with some mead without alerting his parents, which made for some good times.
When Sol fell off a balcony at the farmhouse and broke his arm while (just a bit) inebriated, they finally picked up on the secret. In the aftermath of some strained relations, it was decided that Sol’s farmhand days were up.
Now, at age fourteen, his father began to consider Sol old enough to accompany him in the mines. Although it wasn’t the most interesting thing in the world, Sol considered this occupation worthwhile. The dangers, risk-taking, exploration, and energy required to mine in the caves complimented Sol’s adventurous and boisterous personality very well. For once, he enjoyed learning the ropes of the trade. Consequently, he stuck with it, learning more about mining than any other previous apprenticeship.
Heart and Sol
When he wasn’t working, Sol was constantly doing something else. Seeking out the latest escapades from his early years all the way till his teen years, it was natural that every person in town knew of Sol pretty well. When he wasn’t exploring or meeting new people, Sol would mess around with some of his favorite hobbies. He particularly enjoyed archery, which he picked up from his mother, and would often attach notes, objects, and various oddities to arrows in order to brighten up someone’s day or cause a little chaos with one of his shots. He also enjoyed, after attaining the idea from Ezri, partaking in some mock duels from time to time – but never performed all too incredible in them. Whatever the case might be, Sol would make it a goal to engage in every aspect of entertainment that Auria had to offer – which wasn’t a whole lot to begin with – and often times would erect other happenings as he went. Although he didn’t like the responsibility, Sol became a classic “life of the party” in Auria. As he started getting older, however, Sol was ready to see new things and meet new people. A vagrant at heart, he grew tired of the monotonous atmosphere of Auria. Though a bit ashamed of it, on hearing news of the dusk portal spark and opening, he was even a bit pleased. Maybe for once people would soon be concerned about something other than their day at work and other trivial shit. The stories of adventure that Sol heard many times from Aunt Ezri inspired him. He remembered promising her that someday he’d get out of boring old Auria and have some stories of his own, like her. After her boat exploded around Sol’s seventeenth birthday and she never returned, he decided it was about time.
When he discovered a vein of gold while exploring the Aurian mines, and thought it enough to take him far from home, he brought the idea to his parents. Naturally fearing his safety, they refused the seventeen-year-old’s plea to “explore the realm in Ezri’s name.” However, after some discussion, and the recent hard feelings they all had in regards to Ezri’s death, Sol and his parents came to an agreement in the middle: He could travel to Nightveil, where his cousins Bishop and Lapis along with other remnants of Auria currently resided. Sol didn’t love the offer, but he accepted it after seeing the singe of pain in his parents’ eyes. After all, he could see some old friends again and maybe find some people actually his age in Nightveil. And so, after gathering what he needed, Sol embarked on the next ship towards Nightveil.

Though she shrugged it off the first time, Tim attempted to put an arm around an angry Nikitia.
“I can’t believe we let him do that,” she muttered as she allowed his arm to pull her against him this time and watched the boat fade further away.
Tim smiled sadly, “I do envy him a little.”
“Why,” Nikitia muttered halfheartedly.
He glanced at her, surprised at her puzzlement, “You do know where he got that sense of adventure from don’t you?”
A small smirk broke onto Nikitia’s lips, though she quickly tore it off, “The damn bastards that made him.”
Rook, who had been standing aloof to the side watching Sol sail off in name of his dead wife, aimed some silent words towards the parents, “That kid never saw real danger.” He glanced towards them, then back towards the boat. “You should be thankful he probably never will.”
