Server Downtime Last Night - SentaiPink - 22-03-2013
Recently, you might have noticed we had a bit of server down time. This pause in our ability to relax and RP was caused by a number of players who've disregarded a few of our core rules, placed unfounded accusations at staff and generally complained over the service we provide here at Mesalia. A service we don't charge for, a service that we spend almost all of our free time providing to you the players, and in some cases, we even spend our own money to keep going. There are plenty of servers out there that have not seen the life span Mesalia has or don't have the quality we do because of inactive or simply apathetic staff. Things aren't like that here. Our staff is active, constantly communicating with one another and we work extremely hard on keeping this server's standards where they need to be. With only the expectation that you follow our rules. Unfortunately, this has not been done. Thus, the server was taken down.
Let's make something perfectly clear; you are here because you want to RP. When we say we are a "mature and serious RP server", it is not because we RP mature topics, but because we do not tolerate any OOC drama, bitching or high school gossiping. We expect a certain amount of maturity from you, the player, not only in your ability to respect the staff and their decisions but also your willingness to report issues accordingly, keep a civil tone and refrain from argument with staff and other players. You need to accept your mistakes, own up to them, apologize and move on to better avoid future errors instead of venting at staff who are only enforcing the rules you agreed to follow. That being said, there are rules, from our primary rules, that you should all be following:

All of you agreed to these rules when you applied to this server. If you don't like it, leave. If you witness any staff misusing their power and can provide solid evidence, then you can send a PM to one of the other staffers or to the Admin. As a whole, staff works collectively on our decisions in regards to the server, on player reprimands and punishment. No single staffer makes any choice outside of the all-powerful Admin. Gossiping about staff, and disrespecting them out of game is not productive, helpful, or appreciated.
If a Moderator or Admin tell you something while exercising their duties, you MUST listen to them.
If a GM or Admin say NO, or disagree to something while exercising their duties, you may NOT argue with them, you can however report them to someone of higher authority if you disagree on their decision. Staff work hard to make Mesalia a place for everyone to enjoy, but the rules are there for reasons and they have to enforce them.
Respect your fellow Mesalians.
You play on a server to have fun with others. You shouldnât feel like youâre in a hostile environment. Everyone at Mesalia not only deserves to be respected, but also deserves to have their ideas and thoughts respected â regardless of any circumstances. If you do not like something another player has done or is doing, report it to a staff member privately. Do not publicly accuse them or retaliate. Talking about players in private mediums such as Skype or PMs is permitted, but messages can be validly reported to staff if it is of a threatening or offensive nature.
Listen to staff instruction, and do not lie to staff.
If you disagree with a staff memberâs instructions or decisions, you may not argue with them but you may file a complaint or report them to a higher authority. Ignoring staff instruction will result in a warning at the very least. Repeated ignoring of instruction will result in further punishment.
Do not attempt to smart-arse your way around any of our rules and policies.
We donât appreciate it. If youâre unsure about anything mentioned or not mentioned in the rules, discuss it with a staff member. We'll be happy to assist you.
We have alternatives for dealing with this for a reason. Staff will read and review every PM we receive in regards to issues the players have with our dissensions and the map. Notwithstanding this, we here at staff will also take every step necessary to protect the server and its community. This is not a daycare. We will not coddle you, and we will not appease you when you whine and attack staff about things being unfair. If you have a legitimate issue, go through the correct channels and file a complaint.
We will purge any trouble makers from the server should things EVER get out of hand like they did the other day. That's right, soapboxing IG will only get you an "all expenses paid trip" to a perma-ban.We will not tolerate immaturity, especially from those who are self-entitled and think they are exempt from staff instructions. We have rules for a reason, and you will follow them or you will be gone. End of story.
Now a final word from our Admin
Information from Zark:
- For all that did not know already, the sandstorm that was to occur last night has been retconned.
- The Middle Map is re-opened, yes you should all be back on the whitelist (for now).
- We got approximately 3 weeks left till grand opening of the next map and campaign.
- Any more issues alike what happened last night will result in the Middle Map closing for good, you all get a second chance on it and that's the last one.
- The staff will not put any more effort into the Middle Map after last night, we will focus solely on the next. Thus, we're not making any more builds.
- And according to above then, once you reach the last build on the Middle Map and the characters decide to carry on again, the map will have to close and the RP be paused.
