Revalox Tempestas - Kitkatmanftw - 25-02-2013 Revalox Tempestas Gender: Male Race: Mesalian Age: 28 (Birthday every 5th) Religion: ? Alignment: Chaotic Neutral He does anything that pleases and interests him. Appearance: ![]() ^ * Credit goes to Holli for this drawing! * ^ ![]() ^ * Credit goes to me myself for this one! * ^ Currently:Training, praying, and guarding the people I was born for what seems now like a millennium ago. Imagine a small village, residing on the borderline of a desert and a vast forest. The location doesn't seem very ideal to me, but, that is how XeâLes described it to me. XeâLes⦠How I miss him so. He protected me⦠He taught me⦠He saved me. With his masterful skills, natural abilities of being a teacher, and those dark, red eyes⦠Childhood I was born in said village two years after the ending of the War of Veld and was given a more than suitable name; Revalox Tempestas. Raised by my parents whose faces I seem to not be able to even remember, however their names I could never forget; Maratha and Gerald. Living with them, I lived the life of a child pauper. My family did not own much, but enough to get by. From what I remember, the entire town was in such condition as well. My early child-hood was carefree however, as there weren't many jobs available for a kid my age. I would go around, taking the small bits of food and scraps from merchant stands and stock holds. I wasn't a savvy thief and was often caught. My father of course did not approve, believing that being a thief was a horrid crime. I on the other hand saw no shame in it. One must take what they need to survive, and we needed as much as we could get. Nonetheless, my father would punish me severely⦠Funny, how to this day I remember the beatings more than I remember his face. Youâd think after the first few Iâd learn to stop. Ha! That is not how Revalox Tempestas works though! As I grew, I simply got better and better and thievery and snatching bits and pieces of things. What a delightful childhood, living on the edge, not a care in the world, not a single desire but to do what he pleases and get what he wants. Sometimes I like to dream about that boy and how simple that life was⦠Of course, some of those dreams end with the back of a hand striking me awake. The bastard father I once had beat me all the time when I was caught thieving. But the thrill of it was too great... To this day I try to keep my hands off things that do not belong to me, but some times I just can't help it. The color red I have grown used to. Blood, hate, anguish... I have gone through it all and to this day, I have grown to almost love it. Of course, I prefer to see others' blood than my own... Moving on, yes, life was good and pleasant until I turned the age of nine. I had overheard talk from adults as I was picking their pockets for valuables about a neighboring village threatening them. I didn't know much of what all the talk meant, so I mostly just ignored it. This changed however once the invasion came. Being a small village that had weak borders, it was easy to overcome. I remember when it started. I was at the town center⦠Everything happened so fast. Suddenly there was fire, arrows, and blood. So. Much. Blood. It was beautiful really⦠I remember running. I ran in one direction down a back alley and kept running. I forget how long I ran for, but I remember being far outside the town in the night, leaving smoke behind me. And then, I remember falling and then, I felt as if the nothingness of the Void itself engulfed me. I woke up some time later in a small cottage. A man was over by the fire, cooking up a stew as I lay down in bedsheets. I rubbed my head for it hurt and sat up. âWho are you?â I asked. He turned to me and smiled, âA friend.â His dark red eyes were what first stood out to me and I stared at them for what seemed like an eternity, although it was not so as he turned back to tending to the stew. âWhatâs your name?â No response. âWhere am I?â No response. âWhatâs going on!?â He then turned, taking the pot of stew he had just cooked up and a long wooden spoon and moved over to me, using his knees to walk. When he was next to me, he sat down on his legs and took the spoon, getting a generous amount of stew in the spoon and holding it out to my mouth. âYou need to get your strength back. If you eat, I promise to answer all of your questions in time.â I simply nodded and took some sips of stew. The next few days I stayed in the cottage. During these days, I never once left my bed sheets, not even to relieve myself (That my friends were done in a bucket, and I doubt you want me to explain that little predicament). Even if I wanted to leave, I could not find the strength in my limbs. Even to keep myself sat up was a hassle. I became quite familiar with my surroundings during this time. The cottage seemed to have two main rooms: The one I was in, which had a constant roaring fire in the center and many basic cooking tools all along the walls and a second pair of bed sheets in which the red-eyed man slept, and the other room which had both the doorway and some other cabinets in it. Overall, a humble living plan but a pleasant one. I finally confronted the red-eyed man a week into my stay. He said his name was XeâLes and that he was a Xitian. I had heard about the Xitians; battle-hardened red-eyed demons that were fierce opponents. However, this one seemed nice and kind, something to be admired. I was currently staying in his cottage in the town of Resk, which is a port town farther into the desert on a coastline. He said he had found me when he was on his return trip from a different town in the forest and found me while he was walking along the road (Apparently I had passed out in the middle of the damned thing!). I finally asked him my final question which was, âWhere are my parents?â He simply responded, âDead.â Young Adulthood With nowhere to go, I ended up being unofficially adopted by XeâLes. It was an interesting life at first, I helped him tend to his garden. Well, tend and set up a garden⦠He said he had an issue when he tried to set one up in the past. Something about that heâd always end up killing the plants without even trying. But other than gardening, I also aided with running to the marketplace. Buying XeâLes supplies was always the best because I got to hold so much money, money that Iâve never held before. Of course it was short lived as I would buy the supplies with it, but every once in a while XeâLes would toss me a coin or two. Of course, Iâd typically just buy some food with it since I never held onto my money well. However I found that food in Resk was fairly expensive so I usually didnât have enough to buy any delicious food. So, I stole it. Iâd walk home at the end of the day, stuffing my face with the food so when I walked into the cottage XeâLes wouldnât notice. I thought I was so clever wearing my childish façade. Shortly after my twelfth birthday, XeâLes gave me a small sack of coins. I remember counting them, one, two, four, eight, and twenty! Twenty coins! I couldnât believe it! Off I ran to the market, and even though I couldn't see it, I could sense XeâLesâs smile burning into the back of my head as I ran off eagerly from the cottage. Once I got to the market, I kept my coins hidden in case of anyone would take notice (I realize now twenty coins to most people at that time would seem like pocket change, but I didn't know that). I came to the window of a weapons shop and something caught my eye, something magnificent. It was a beautifully crafted spear⦠Double tipped with jagged edges an engraved staff. The magnificent engraved spear looked to be made out of fine steel. The pure magnificence reminded me of XeâLes, and I figured Iâd use some of my new-found fortune to buy it for him. Two-thousand coins! Such a great sum, I had overly underestimated the value of this spear! But itâs beauty⦠Nothing less for XeâLes! That night I returned to the shop after the town was asleep, dodging drunken guards and loose women until I reached the shop. I was able to pick the lock (As I found, it was not all too different from a chest lock, which many I had picked) and enter the shop. Most of the weapons were covered and so was the window so the shop, leaving the spear in the blocked-from-view windowsill. Perfect! I immediately went for it and slowly picked it up. It was warm to the touch and as I began to take a few steps back I felt that the warmth wasn't coming from the spear. No, this warmth was coming from the room itself⦠Nay, something in the room! I turned; a man was standing in the door of the room that led to another. I could tell the heat was emitting from him and despite the darkness, I could see his bright red eyes glowing in the night. The man began to step towards me, panicking, I ran for the door to exit the shop, as I reached for the handle, the door swung open, and there stood XeâLes. XeâLes seemed in utter shock and looked over to the other red-eyed man and they exchanged looks before they both looked down on me. I knew that whatever was going on right now, that I was the main victim and it was only going to get worse. I was wrong, thankfully. The man I had been running from stepped forward into the light and spoke. âXeâLes! It is good to see you.â I was confused, and look up at XeâLes who was still looking at the man. âYelkar, it is good to see you. What is going on here?â âAsk him.â The man, apparently known as âYelkarâ, motioned to me. XeâLes then looked down at me and waited. I explained the situation that I had seen the spear in the window and wanted to give it to him as a thank-you gift for the coins. The entire time, he just nodded and kept a straight face. At the end, he turned to Yelkar and spoke. âWe can get our business done tomorrow, brother, but for now, here.â He then handed over a large sack of coins to Yelkar and nodded. After that, he led me out the door and went back home, me still holding the spear. When we were finally home, he turned to me and spoke again. âRevalox Tempestas, that spear is now yours. Also, if youâre going to steal, sneak around thinking I donât notice, etc, and at least make sure you donât get caught.â He sighed. âThat spear is a birthday gift for you now, okay? It used to be very important to my brother whom you just met. He used it when he fought in the wars so keep it safe. But, you can only keep it on one condition. Are you listening?â I nodded. âI wonât be around for a lot longer Revalox. Iâm old and still have much to pass down to you. If you want to keep the spear, you need to become my apprentice. This means doing whatever I say. Is that clear?â I nodded and said âAlright, Iâm ready to begin my journey.â I smiled as well, but I wasn't sure why. XeâLes smiled back and said âYour journey doesn't begin now, Revalox. No, your journey still has time before it begins.â New Beginnings As XeâLesâs apprentice, I was to train every day. It would start with a run followed by a workout. Afterwards, XeâLes would teach me hours on end different techniques to use with the double-tipped spear. Not only that, he gave me many tips on subterfuge. He seemed like he was more focused on turning me into someone who fights in the dark than in the light. I had no complaints, as I already enjoyed sneaking around and taking things that werenât exactly mine. The days were long and nights were short but it was all worth it. I was proud to be taught by XeâLes. It was not destined to last forever though, because as XeâLes predicted, he eventually passed away when I was seventeen years old. At his passing, a surprisingly large funeral was held. It was at this funeral that I learned much about my master I had not known; he was apparently a veteran Xitian soldier who had fought in the war of Veld and like most Xitian here, were revered and refugees. I must apologize for my lack for speaking of the town of Resk. One must realize that unlike most of the villages on the Mainland, Resk was full of Mesalians that honored (And some even worshiped) the Xitians for their power and strength. They welcomed Xitian refugees with open arms when the Purge first began and had so far gone under the radar of any Lucians. I myself had been taught by XeâLes much about Xitian traditions and culture. So if one asks what I think of Xitians I must say that I do not worship them⦠Worship is pointless. I do see them as a great power⦠No, I see them as saviors to the Mesalian people. But that is a topic for another time. As XeâLesâs former apprentice, I inherited his land and riches, the little that there were. I would still train myself even without him, keeping myself both fit and silent. I would need it for what there was to come. A pitiful war, if you can even call it that. Shortly after my eighteenth birthday a group of Mesalian and Lucian crusaders attacked our town. We were caught off guard but managed to fight them off and defend the town for now. The next three years were gruesome. The enemy set up camps in the desert and blocked off a lot of our trade routes. I volunteered to join the militia the town formed and would go around with small parties, destroying these camps and murdering the enemy in their sleep. Now that, that was glorious⦠To kill them silently and see the fear in their eyes as you muzzle them and slit their throats in their sleep⦠there is nothing like it. After three years however, we had been losing this war and the enemy finally decided to lead a full-on assault onto our town. The siege lasted a few days but they eventually broke through the walls, slaying many of us and burning our homes. I remember during the final battle seeing old friends fall to Lucian weapons. The pigs murdered nearly everyone and everything. I was able to find the commander leading the assault and confronted him. A jab left, right, center, right, and he was bleeding out. The sight of his blood made me laugh as I rammed the tip of my spear through his skull, piercing him to a wall. I donât remember much after that⦠Just a frenzy of me going around, trying to murder as many of these blue-eyed bastards as possible. But after a while, like so many years ago, everything went black as the Void and I fell. I awoke many hours later on the ground, no small cottage this time, just crumbling buildings. As I stood, I felt my head and returned it to look at my hand now covered in dried blood. I tried patching up my head with some spare cloth and wandered around town before I came to town center where the few survivors were gathering. We set up camp, and discussed what needed to be done. We could stay here, in this place we once called home. No, we needed to leave all of this behind⦠The only path of escape was to set sail into the unknown. But the others weren't so eager. They refused to leave their homeland and desired to stay. I suppose I can not blame them; unlike me, this was where they were born and raised for their entire lives. I have no origin, no set home and no set family. I decided it would be best to set sail alone in a small boat (If one can even give it enough credit to call it one) and leave for the unknown. As I was packing my things onto the vessel, I paused for a long moment. A man who had been watching me out of curiosity approached and asked "What is wrong? Are you regretting your decision?" âNo, I guess itâs justâ¦â He raised his eyebrow. I smiled, and spoke⦠âI guess this is where my journey begins" Skills Falconry.................... She's having our child, to think, we'll be bringing a child into this world together! This world... This horrible, horrible world... Caius: He was my old boss that I served and in a sense, a fries innd. Although hitentions can be deceitful and blunt, he's interesting to be around. He's helping to organize the Pilgrims a bit. He's... gotten a tad weird, but it's just more entertainment I suppose. Joel: A very nice fellow who is a falconer. Me, him, and Caius cleared out an old inn full of spiders... It was the combined effort of me and Joel that we were able to kill what seemed to be the Queen. After the battle, me and him both took a fang as a trophy. To add, he is teaching me falconry at the moment. We have picked out a hawk for me and named her "Daya". William: I fought with him in the destroyed Auria. Me and him also seem to be forming quite a good friendship, and I usually get along with him as well. Dusken: A woman that is new in town and running the jeweler's. She's fairly attractive... Also, I helped her buy off my emerald by getting Caius to pay me thirteen gold pieces. She also seems to be quite fond of the "Devil". Alice: A kind girl. I think she may have an attraction to me, but who knows? Atlas: A knight with a noble code, he seems rather serious at times but he can take a joke, which I like. Not only that, he seems like a good warrior as well. Zarkaylia: An older woman. She seems to be Xitian, or, part Xitian at least. She was the Guard Captain of Auria. Her problem-solving skills are rather lacking, but people seem to trust this old warrior quite a bit. Ice: A fellow who is a scout and archer. He's gotten rather depressing lately. Blake: A powerful Xitian warrior! I don't know much about him but I'd like to get to know him. "Mitty": A strong blacksmith woman who is quite resourceful. Allison:~Paused~ My first love... We spent one last night together before she left on her journey. I wonder if I'll ever see her again? Michelle: Don't know much about her at all besides that her hair used to be purple. Rook: Ezri's husband. His problem solving skills are good, but he seems to believe himself the leader of the Pilgrims, which, he is not. Alex: A rude man. Ferenc: A musician and a bit of an awkward sort. Percival: A very awkward young man who is a book-binder. Conradian: The former mayor of Auria... He tagged along with the expedition to the spider caves and almost got himself killed. He's a bit naive but at the same time, he can be very useful. Ezri: A pirate captain who used to run the Tavern in Auria. I expected more out of her, but she's just been getting more and more blunt and rather stupid honestly. While she's useful at times, her intrigue levels are absolute zero, and she has a habit of blaming everything on others it seems. "Devil": He usually wears a mask and is albino. Him and Dusken seem to be together. However, the care-free spirit I thought he once was doesn't much exist anymore and he's gotten a tad annoying. His behavior can also be disgusting at times.... Although, his humor isn't always that bad. Valentine: Joy, another useless idiot who thinks he's a good leader. He's head of the Hunter's guild and slowly trying to take over. Should be interesting. Timothy: A younger kid who is over his head. A little brat who believes himself older than he is. If I forgot your character (And we've RP'd), feel free to respond!
