Name:
Mittendri Stonefire
Age:
48
Gender:
Female
Mittendri, or Mitty as she prefers to be called, stands at about 5'10, and has a lithe, but muscular body slightly darkened and toughened from her times in the forges. During her trips to and fro the different settlements in the maninlands, she has lost a finger, and has gained plenty of scars from the many close calls on her life, adding to the already scarred and burnt skin from a lifetime of smithing. She sports short hair that is very brown, with a tinge of red around the ends of the strands, with a headband of beads and gems. As for her eyes, they are brown in color.
For clothing, she wears a simple long-sleeved linen shirt, and baggy black pants with lots of pockets. The pants are held in place by a leather belt with an iron buckle, on top of which is another leather belt with a satchel and slots for her regular blacksmith's hammer, her dagger, and a portable bellows. Draped over her is a long-tailed leather coat with embroidered on the shoulders, sleeves and on the back, with plenty of pockets, and a couple more belts of tools and satchels to hold her various junk.

How to describe Mitty? The easiest way I can think of is crossing a sailor with a dwarf. She is loud, quite obnoxious, and tough as nails. She can be friendly and nice, but she will do so in her own manner, in the Stonefire way. Her 'eddycation', so to speak, wasn't very grand, so stuff other than what is her profession, she won't be good with it, and will get easily confused and can possibly mess up. However, she won't get embarrassed by her lack of knowledge or experience, if anything she'll laugh heartily at her own faults, and make others laugh with her; her pride doesn't dwell on such things, and it isn't like a Stonefire to linger long on mistakes. She is generally carefree, and at times childish (depending on who she talking to), but she will get dead serious on certain matters such as forging, being a woman, and meat. If her pride on such matters is harmed, she will flail out, and seek to get some form of apology, or just go whack that son of a gun out with her hammer. She will, however, hold no grudges once the matter is clear, and will go out on her way to befriend the person as if he never insulted her heritage, and whatnot.
Skills:

Able fighter
Mitty was the pride and joy of the family. Being a late child perhaps added to that, and maybe also the fact that she was the 5th and only child. All of her brothers had left before she had been born to fulfill their duties as a Stonefire, and no news of them had reached the distant town of miners and blacksmiths, officially known as Linedia, and called by natives as Fogstone. The town, as its name suggests was covered perpetually in a fine fog, from day to night, from the dawn of the first day to the sunset of the last. The miners could see little of what they dug up, the fog being so thick down in the mines, making them feel as if they were mining up the gaseous material instead of stone, hence the name Fogstone. Living conditions in the town werenât very luxurious, laundry did not dry quickly enough, and sunlight was often distorted, making it hard to discern the time at times. The only times the people of Fogstone could see the sun directly was during noon, when the sun shone directly down on the town and dissipated all the fog, but even that was only for couple of hours or so, and so the town was usually quite damp. However, living in such a place had its advantages as well; Xitians lost their powers surrounded by all the water vapor in the atmosphere, and all the standard make weapons and armor rusted easily, not to forget the poor visibility as well, making it near impossible for the Xitian invaders to take over this fog-infested city. Well, they could have in all honesty, if they had wanted, but the town of Linedia wasnât well worth wasting their resources and time on, and the leader of the town (Chief Grackenjaw at the time,) struck a deal with the Xitians that they would provide their armies with weapons and other resources if their town was left to peace, and so Fogstone enjoyed its peace for the many years that followed.
Ah, but I digress, let's go back to Mitty.
Mitty was born to a family of blacksmiths, both of her parents were blacksmiths, and so were her grandparents, and so were her great-grandparents. Needless to say, she learned to hammer metal before she could walk, and as part of the Stonefire tradition, made her own toys out of scrap metals. By the time she graduated communications 101, she was taught the first lesson that all Stonefire know by heart: Respect the fire. You see, since Fogstone was so damp and cold, fires had to be extra stronger just to keep the people warm through nights, and that meant that they were more exposed to the calamities that fire could so easily cause; a fireplace built sloppily indoors could cause a roaring campfire that roasted for the townsfolk an entire pig, which they would share in the warmth of the giant fire, singing jolly songs, and laughing at the owner of the house do the traditional fire dance. Anyway, going back, Mitty, at a young age learned all that a Stonefire needed to know, spending her days swinging her little hammer and nights singing and drinking (there was no age restriction to drinking in Fogstone) with other smiths and miners alike. Her days were that of peace, no Xitian ever invaded Fogstone, and those that were stupid to do so found their powers diminished, and were easily defeated by the tough men of the town. To these people, the War of Veld wasnât a big event; it just meant that they now supplied weapons to Lucins instead of Xitians, and the stories of war told from the men of town who had gone to aid it, was just another exciting bedtime story for the young 5 year old Mitty. The same went for the Purges that followed, some young hot-blooded boys left for the thrill of the hunt, but life went on in the foggy town of Fogstone, and Mitty grew to be a fine woman that her parents were mighty proud of (Children of Fogstone were considered as adults by the age of 14). She passed the trials of adulthood, and was bestowed the mark of the Stonefire forged by her parents themselves in the form of a hammer (This is the same hammer that she used to forge the famous Shackleburn, but that is a different story). The hammer that was forged for a Stonefire that had passed the rites of adulthood was special to each individual. Each hammer forged for one was different, and was crafted especially to accompany the individual for the rest of her days. This particular hammer of Mittyâs was forged in the hottest fire, hammered for 3 days and nights, and cooled in the crystal clear water directly condensed from the fog. The hammer was four feet in length, and its head was embroidered in the traditional style, and the entire hammer including the handle was made with the finest metal in town. It had two grips, a toughened wood covered with even tougher leather, one near the edge of the handle, and the other around the midsection.
Now bestowed her very own hammer, which she christened Mattenshire, and nicknamed Matty, she was now a full member of the Stonefire clan, and from thence, started her lessons forging the Stonefire way. Fortunately for her, the civil war broke out just about then, and orders for weapons and armor came rushing in, and she learned the various techniques and such as she went on building up on her experience, until her parents decided that they could teach her nothing more. By then, she was one of the finest woman in town, and she had already turned down her second proposal (the man was a wimp; he had lost the basic drinking test), and so it was decided that she be sent out of town to see the world and come back experienced and more knowledgeable to contribute to the forging methods of the Stonefire clan, just as her brothers had, as is the duties of all Stonefire youth. So Mitty left, traveling far and wide, keeping to the Stonefire traditions, and learning more of the world.
Two years passed since she had started her journey, but she felt that she had not learned enough, and wanted to see more of the world. However, she knew that she had to inherit her fatherâs forge and continue the Stonefire clan if her brothers werenât to return. So she lingered where she was, the town of Auria in the Forbidden Lands, where she was assisting in the reconstruction of the town while waiting for a reply to a letter she wrote back home. Few weeks later, she received news of the return of one of her brothers, and encouragement from her family to go where she wanted, and see as much of the world as she wanted. She felt guilty about leaving Auria still recovering from its recent calamity, but the mayor of the town was very much kind, and had no wishes to stop Mitty from leaving if she truly wanted to. She was grateful, and as a parting gift forged many tools of Stonefire quality, and with a wish for the townâs quick revival, she parted from the town. The mayor showed signs of disappointment as she saw her off, and the little girl beside her positively glared with contempt, but Mitty had only eyes for the adventures ahead, and with Mattenshire, and the basic things she had when she left Fogstone, she left to follow the original residents of Auria, to the deeper regions of the Forbidden Lands, to adventure.
