Back story updates with stuff explaining Nadia's behavior and personal growth over time:
Childhood:
Nadia grew up shy and sheltered. Curious of the world, yes, but shy. She was raised in the isolated Xitian village with very few to befriend and the likes. The isolated behavior carried with her as she was more keen to observe the others in town rather than speak to them. Despite her curiosity, fear often got the best of Nadia during interactions with other people. Specifically adults other than her parents. However, this did not stut Nadia's growth in her own knowledge. As she had little interaction due to how shy she was, Nadia was able to focus on her studies with explosives. In a way, this knowledge and growth helped Nadia build confidence. She was aware that explosives were dangerous tools. So with handling such tools, Nadia felt a certain strength she never had from talking to others or handling fire.
During Nadia's childhood, she had to face the struggles with her Grandfather starting fights with the family. The fights and arguments often frightened Nadia which did not help for her confidence nor interactions with other people. The arguments caused her to be rather afraid, still mostly with other people around her. She had to brave harsh treatment but it was rather much for the young girl. Everything causing her to stray away from speaking despite some confidence found in the making of explosives.
Teenage years:
Following the death of her Grandfather, Nadia's life was far quieter. She continued learning explosives work and the like and she grew up finally experiencing a peaceful life. However, as most teenagers experience, she eventually grew to be bored. She was born at the wrong time and thus had most of her social interaction with adults and not the young children. Her teenage years were a time of learning, maturity, and self discovery as usual. But she grew restless. She watched others still for scientific reasons but had no real friends. She wanted something more than what was present in the Xitian village. This caused a late bloom in Nadia's personal development as she never had the same social interactions that most teenagers have. No first love or true friends. No heartbreaks or those to befriend. She was a rather awkward teenage girl to say the least. Once again, causing her to just focus on studies rather than interacting with other people such as the hermit man. This caused her arguments with her parents for simple things that did not matter in the long run of life. A moody behavior caused indirectly from a lack of proper teenage social interaction.
When Nadia was wounded after the accident, her growing stubbornness and anger swelled at the others. They out-casted her and the Verdon family for little reasoning. Her scars remained a permanent reminder of this and a rage that fails to trust others at times. In the end, Nadia may fail to trust others unless they give a proper first impression of good signs. Without that, Nadia is bound to distrust those around her. Sure she had scars from chemical accidents in the past, but these burns were different to her. Something of a big mistake.
Dangerous world:
Nadia finally had friends of her age to deal with. That late development bloomed out of her as she finally experienced knowing a variety of others like her. She was a bit awkward in the beginning, but once she settled into knowing these other people and their language, Nadia's awkward tendencies settled. For a moment, she grew to trust others again until her incident with Harold. That specific time severed as another reminder to Nadia as to not trust too quickly. Thanks to her friends, Nadia grew into who she is now. A less awkward girl who shows her outgoing behavior regularly despite some past trust failures.
