◦ Main Backstory: Jake grew up on a small farm far from any cities, his father was a soldier, which meant he had to look after the farm most of the time, while his father was fighting for the King, which Jake admired him greatly for. Although his father had not been heard from for many seasons. One evening, after a hard day tending to the farm, Jake went back to the house, but all that was there was a raging fire. He rushed to try and put out the fire and check on his mother, but as he approached he could hear laughter. There were pillagers at the front of the house and next to them was his mother, tied to a post, lifeless, with 3 crossbow bolts in her stomach. Eyes full of tears and in shock. Jake didn't realise he had stood up and had made himself visible to the pillagers, they had seen him. He began to flee but the pillaged were gaining. They had not been plowing fields all day and were better fed. Jake ran through the forest until he came to a river, seeing that he could not outrun them he got into the river and let the current carry him away. Jake was picked up by a fisherman named Godfrey, who showed him kindness, Jake stayed with him and worked for him for 2 years to show his gratitude, but with his heart still heavy with the loss of his mother and not knowing where his father was or if he was still alive, he decided to book passage to a new land for a fresh start. And so he set sail... for Valour.
