Disclaimer: This thread isn't for discussing opinions on what's happening with Bukkit and Mojang because that's a literal drama- and shitfest going on over the web as it is. You have opinions on them you wanna share? Take them elsewhere. There's plenty of places out there for you to rage that's not here. This thread involves Mesalia.
Thread introduction/Background
Fellow Mesalians, as may already be known to a lot of you there's some drama going on over at the old Bukkit community and Mojang's office. As Mesalia's running CraftBukkit and always have been I realize it may be best to not keep people out of the light or disallow questions. Lets be open about all this and allow all you players to ask me questions about it IF you want to. You may also discuss, but remember the disclaimer and the topic at hand. Got nothing to say or discuss? Great! No need to post.

I hate to be asking these questions so soon into this whole thing (especially because it might amount to nothing) but I feel that they need to be asked and to be up on the forums for everyone to see.
Is there a backup plan in case Bukkit is no longer a thing?
Do we have a plan for the plugin side of things?
Hard questions, I know, but I believe it'd be best to go ahead and get the two most worrying issues put to rest.
I know that Spigot was under fire from this as well and I know we'll weather the storm, but I was wondering if there's anything already in the works in case this whole thing goes under.
Keep up the good work as the rest of Minecraft slowly tries to tear down the server, one aspect at a time.
It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Aye, we're working on a backup plan already. I plan to start testing Forge this coming week as a first step.
Truth be told, CraftBukkit haven't been doing well for as long as about a year. A great part of what originally spurred the creation of the Alroc map was the problems Bukkit faced when 1.7.0 was first launched. We were going to scrap Ravenna, but 1.7.0 and the problems Bukkit faced kick-started the creation of Alroc in a hurry. Once we knew Ravenna was still gonna make it we slowed down the pace a bit, but that Bukkit struggled to keep up never changed. So we've had the thought and discussion up several times already.

First and foremost we look for excisting plugins if we need new ones. Lastly, we try to do it ourselves.
I'm gonna be honest; I don't look forward to having to make the plugin in the sense that I'm already very short on time and had planed the rewrite and next update of the Lore as my next big project. To what extent we can, we'll use existing plugins. A customized plugin(s) will be made if there is time and need only.

Late update to this:
Bukkit is dead. It's not without there being the slightest faintest possibility that it'll be revived, but you'd have to be one heck of a necromancer waving a Mojang-wand and wearing Microsoft top hat. And even if it was to be revived, we'll not see any fixes or updates for months to come.
So what's happening then, what are we going to do? Well, like most other Bukkit servers we'll have to keep running on what we have for the time being while we wait for one of the ongoing projects to get finished. At least 2 new projects have risen in the wake of Bukkit's fall and are under various levels of development at the time being. There are projects, most of them considering why they've even started, that will support Bukkit plugins and there's also those that'll make easy transition from Bukkit to their own thing.
However, we gotta have patience. Sorry guys, but you don't make a whole new API or the like in a whim. Bukkit themselves sometimes took months to handle just updates of Minecraft and these projects start from scratch. It's gonna take time. Myself I'd say I'm optimistic if I say there may be a testable version of some or more new API's in... Mars 2015? If it gets done before that I'll be pleasantly surprised and if it'll not be done till next summer, it's more along the lines of what I'm expecting.
So, that's that... Feel free to comment or even leave suggestions.
