Why do you want to join?
I'd like to join this server to learn RP from the best. I know you guys may not be, but I'd like to see how I can fare under strict restrictions.
Do you have any RP'ing experience?
Yes, I have played on a different RP server, but for case of advertising, I will not mention names.
Tell us a bit about yourself
Well, my name isn't too hard to guess, just look at the beginning of my IGN.
I'm not exactly what you would call grown and experienced. I really just want to try new things. I will always try to be as mature as possible when required.
Your Character Biography
Gonal was born with an eye for beauty. He would always see the best of everything. This wasn't unusual, coming from a long line of artists. His parents taught him various art forms. His mother taught him painting, while his father taught him whittling and leather-working designs. He always had a talent for painting, however. He always felt better in his imagination than in the real world. There was never really an end to what he could paint when he put his mind to it. This led him to develop a sense of curiosity. He would wonder about everything he saw, whether it be the origin of Mesalians or how many leaves were on the tree at the front of the village. The thing he particularly wondered about was what adults were like when they were young. Everyone in his village had a story. It helped him find out more about their personalities and how they came to be. He would then incorporate this information into his paintings of them. He never did figure out why his parents were so nervous when he asked them about what his father did when he was young. They had their reasons. His father had fought in the War of Veld, and did not want his son to find out about the Xitians that once ravaged their small village. He was born after the Purge, so he never really saw a Xitian in his life, which helped. Him and his family lived peacefully in one of the villages in the West.
At the age of 10, people in the village saw his paintings, and were impressed at how good a 10 year old could paint. It helped that the village had never seen an actual top-notch painting. They paid him to do self- portraits of them. Gonal happily accepted, remembering what his father taught him about getting money for the family. At this point, Gonal began to make some friends. They were actually just the children of his customers, but they were his friends nonetheless. They weren't the best of friends, usually just having a chat with him. They were close enough to him, though, that he made wooden figurines of each of them. At first, his friends mocked his art, insulting the ones they didn't understand, but as he showed them his paintings, with their insults reflected on it, they held their tongues.
Slowly, as Gonal got older, things started to change. People got into fights more often. Shopkeepers demanded more money for their goods. Even his friends had drifted away from him which saddened him. He cheered up rather quickly, though, as they had gotten a lot more hostile recently. He thought it was just that him and his friends were maturing. What Gonal didn't know is that slowly, the Middle Realm was falling into chaos. It would become war. The Xitians had planted the seed. They had fooled many Mesalians into thinking that their fellow people had betrayed them, but the elaboration as to how varied from each Mesalian. Some thought that their friends and neighbours had withheld coin from them. In Gonal's case, this was the leader of the town, who got 80 percent of the coin that the town had earned. He had withheld the fact that this time, he had taken even more, and had announced it as the people's faults. Unfortunately, when the Xitians informed the townsfolk, they raided his house first.
Until the age of 17, Gonal remained blissfully unaware of the changes and the chaos ensuing. When he reached 17, Gonal saw what war really was. The Civil War had been announced. It was absolute chaos in the streets. People were choking each other. They were burning down houses. They didn't skip out on Gonal's home. Neither of his parents made it out. They were burned alive. Worse, he saw the fire as a beautiful thing. The chaos of the fire, the raging beauty, the fury of the flames. It was the embodiment of art. At that moment, Gonal's world flipped over. He didn't know what to do. He had always relied on his parents. He didn't know life without them. He even idolized the thing that killed them. He contemplated killing himself, to be with his parents again. But he knew his parents wouldn't want that. They would want him to live out his life to the fullest. Gonal decided that he would live on for his parents. He quickly grabbed the things that meant the most to him, and ran to the outskirts of town. He fished out the money he had gotten from painting and hired a carriage to take him to the docks. Along the way, he asked the captain where he could go to escape the chaos. The captain said that the Forbidden Lands would be the best place to go. As soon as he arrived at the docks, he scrounged up what money he had left, and went on a boat to the Forbidden Lands. On the boat trip, he began working on his latest painting. The picture? A man and woman, surrounded by fire, a look of utter fear on their faces.
Personality
Gonal is what you would call an intense artist. Youâll almost never see him sad. Thatâs not to say he isnât. He always takes out anger and negative emotions on his paintings. When he's working on a painting, a whole new side of him reveals itself. A side that has eyes with no emotion. A side that looks as if it is peering into another world. He remembers insults and mockeries quite well, and flows them onto his paintings. He later tosses them away. This is not to say that he doesn't remember an act of kindness. If you are kind to him, he will instantly consider you a friend. Usually, after he's made a friend, he'll make a painting of them, or a wooden figurine, depending on what he's in the mood for. He thinks of the most chaotic and murderous force as not only a ruthless element, but a thing of beauty.

Whittling: Taught by his father at a late age, he still has a lot to learn about this. He does know how to make figurines fairly well. Level: Apprentice
Leather-working: He never really liked leather-working, as it was too dull, and required a lot of time. He can make a simple bird on your chestplate, but other than that, donât expect too much. Level: Novice
