'Time period' would be a better phrasing for this.

As far as Era, the LK's agree we base most of the lore here on 13th to 15th century for most things, up to the 17th century with ships. So to simplify, perhaps:

"...buildings inappropriate for the time period, which is roughly late middle ages."
