I think just a couple of things, and you should be good to go.
Sheltered: I did see that you added a bit about her hearing news of the gate opening, but I think you forgot to remove the bit about her hearings the news when she was about, er, 14, I think. I'll quote:
"Of course, some knowledge of some portal possibly opening reached her, but it was of little consequence, it was far away and couldn't reach her. It was frowned upon to talk about it and so she let the information lapse, but let her social life blossom."
Gardening: As for this, I decided that you can have it as apprentice; seeing as she was probably relieved from maid duties when she became a scribe, and that cleaning isn't really a difficult skill to learn, I think the skill set is feasible.
