sorry for the no response, crazy few days
i've given it some thought and i think the best explanation that i've wanted to use for a while is that lien's grandma is on her deathbed, and so she's taking time to be with family. it makes the most sense for a sudden departure regardless of job and such. she would've told zark and probably zaira and kane
vy... i'm not so sure, she's probably just keeping to herself, maybe making handkerchiefs for trade while she works on some more ambitious design on the side. we can keep it this way until... it's been going on too long to make sense?
