Heyo!
Since Hutch is dealing with a lot on his head right now, I thought it best to take a look at your application.
Skills/Capabilities
Right now, Vada is very young. This is fine, but skills are the reflection of a characters training and experience. And age should reflect this. Even with tutoring and teaching, she has had very little time to develop the skills, especially the number of them.
In Mesalia, we encourage players to start their characters in a position to grow and learn. We tend to reward RP of a characters professions/skills by having them develop said skills at a faster rate than normal. (There are some characters around 23-27 with a single advanced skill, along others, because they've been in setting for a long time.)
I'd take a look at the skills guide here to help.
In short, reduce the number of skills and how experienced she is in them. As it stands, Vada can do a number job/profession skills at a reasonable and competent level. This doesn't reflect her age well.
We have Competent skills in:
Music (5-9 years training/practice)
Arts (This is borderline advanced, note this bit in the skills guide: "This is as far as most skills can ever get. This would take 10-14 years of study," "At say 25 you shouldn’t have more then MAYBE a single skill if it was taught exceedingly young."
Handicrafts (5-9 years)
Apprentice skills in:
Cooking (3-4 years)
Tailoring (3-4 years)
Keep in mind as well, that any skills she trains, that takes time away from other skills.
I'd also split Arts from Reading and Writing. Especially with your description listed, it seems she'd be around novice/apprentice in art, rather competent/advanced. Same with music, with no desire to monetize it, then her skill should be more along apprentice at best. And so on.
Honestly, the skills seem a matter of not being overpowered, as your descriptions list her capabilities in a reasonable matter. I would say its more that the listed 'ranks', so to speak, are not appropriate. I'd honestly say that a 15 year old shouldn't have any skills above Apprentice. It's a bit of the price to pay when playing very young characters. Sorry about this being so long. Skills tend to be the most difficult thing for new applicants, so I want to make sure it makes sense for you.
Backstory
I promise this will be shorter than the skills thing.
Only a few notes
First, you need to end the backstory with Vada taking a boat to the Forbidden Lands. As it is now, she takes a carriage there. This could be different if her entire story was already on the Forbidden Lands, but its unlikely for a carriage to bring someone into Nightveil. (It's surrounded by wilderness). Boat would be easier.
Next, I would like to know more about Alex. As of now, he just kinda seems perverted, crazy, etc. Is there any reason he was this way? I'd like to see a few details.
Last, I'd like to see a little more lore interaction. How did Vada feel about the dragons, for example? You have some bits in there. So that's good. I just want to see a little more.
