Name: Aldus Garsea

Appearance: Gray medium length hair, 5'11, strong build, green eyes, white skin, tattered clothing + cloak. 
Personality: Passionate, Hard working, Friendly, Respectful, Devoted, sometimes easily angered and can get a bit violent if pushed to the edge. 
Backstory:

- Ages 0-10
Aldus was born into a slave family serving a rich Xitian family. The father was a militant man who controlled the area he was in. As a child, Aldus was forced to learn to build at the age of 6, and to do menial housework tasks. As he got to age 10, he was assigned to be focused to be a slave builder.

- 11 - 20
Up to 14, Aldus just did as he was told. He built many fences, helped to build more stone walls, and even some ballistas. Once 14, he started to gain an attraction to the daughter, Evelyn, of the rich father, who disagreed with slavery. Up to 15, he ended up having a secret relationship with her, that was very passionate and driven. At 17, during the war of veld, the family and slaves moved to another household closer a more fortified location owned by Xitians. Up to age 19 the relationship got stronger and more intimate. They were planning to run away together.

- 20 - 50
At age 20, the family's household was attacked by Lucian's trying to free all the slaves and give justice to the whole family. Whilst going to visit Evelyn after being ordered to check on her and get her to safety, he opened the door to her room and saw a Lucian with a sword at one end, and Evelyn at the other. Swordsman charges at her, so Aldus jumps in front and takes a blow to the back, protecting her. At this point, Evelyn used the surprise of the Lucian and picked up a knife she hid under her pillow, and killed the Lucian. With Aldus injured, they both escaped with whatever they could salvage before running away (An axe, some food, cloths and cutlery). They found refuge at a nearby forest, and spent the night in it. After a few weeks of living in the wild and sleeping in dirt, Aldus had recovered enough to construct a small, wooden makeshift living space that wasn't very stable but good enough to sleep and stay in. Since that day, they lived there for 2 years, gradually getting their life up, living in the forest together. The following year, at 23 years old, they were found by a Lucian patrol. Luckily, he was able to explain the story with Evelyn and they, with a struggle, rescued her as well. They lived in a Lucian controlled town, being put in a small house. They lived the next 7 years together, eventually growing a child a year after their arrival to the town. The child was a boy named Reynard. During Reynards life, his parents had spoiled him, but raised him to be respectable, yet oblivious to the outside world. During the purge, the many Mecalians in the town had resent for Evelyn due to her being Xitian. This growing hate lead to her being attacked, however she survived after the Lucian guards saved her. One guard took it personally to bring the injured Evelyn to a better place to heal which was far from the town, however he couldn't move Aldus as well as he realistically shouldn't be doing it. The next 15 years were brutal. His time before the civil war was painful, as his wife and the guard never returned to the village. He had nowhere to go, so he had to continue living in the village as a builder. He had grown Reynard to be a very polite and respectable boy, but had always treated him as a child as he grew because Aldus always had that sense of protection of his younger siblings during his time as a slave. Eventually, this treatment had ended in tragedy. Reynard, once 16, had curiosity take over him and he decided to sneak out at night to venture out into the nearby woods by himself. The next morning, Aldus woke to the news that his son had been found in a nearby forest by some lumberjacks dead. This had taken a massive toll on Aldus. The next few weeks, Aldus had kept himself in his home, grieving the loss of his child. Eventually, he had to come out, and over the years moved on. This had made his attitude to life different. He no longer would hide the truths of the world from himself or those he met. Once the civil war started, his town went to shreds. There were other Xitians in the village who got murdered, and a riot broke out. Aldus was able to escape with minor injuries after his house was set on fire by rioters. At that time he was 50 years old.

- 50 - 70
During his time after the riot at the town, he became a complete wanderer, doing labour wherever he could. He would constantly get into trouble and feuds with people at pubs (leading to many fistfights, which he , or regarding to pay for his work. At the age of 56, he arrived in a town and was hired by a rich man who asked him to help in the construction of his personal manor, as by this time he had a good reputation for his skills of building (and that's all he could do, realistically). He began talking to the man, and they started to have a friendship after sharing similar backstories of being in slave families. In one chat, Aldus finds out that the man is acquainted with someone called Evelyn, who he used to dine with regularly. He describes her, and she shares many qualities of his previous partner. Aldus at this point had never slept with or been with any other woman, so he was reserving himself for Evelyn if he'd ever find her. The man gave Aldus all the information he could about where she possibly could have went. So, after finishing the product, Aldus set out to find his partner. He searched for years and years, never stopping. After hitting 60, he started to become weaker (thankfully when the civil war ended and he ended up in less feuds), becoming less handy with his work, but continued to search. At hearing news of the dusk gate re-opening, he became much more wary of any Xitian he met depending on their looks, however his general attitude towards Xitians was very accepting due to Evelyn proving to him that not all are to be blamed for his slave life. At age 70, he was no longer working, but travelled at a much slower pace.

- 70 - Now
To this day, throughout his years in the 70's, he is still in search for Evelyn. That was his only goal. At this point, he was blindly searching, never finding rest. At age 73, he met a man of similar age whilst in a tavern to whom he got talking to. The man had happened to also be a former worker of a Xitian slaver, but not as bad as Aldus' was. He was required to play music for the owner. The man offered Aldus to come to his home and listen, to which he did. The man took out a few instruments, mainly stringed, but what really took Aldus' eye was a well made Cello. After a session of listening, Aldus asked the man, who's name was Fryderyk, if he could teach him more of the instrument. Fryderyk gladly accepted, and taught him what he knew (and what he could do for his age). Aldus learned to play the Cello for averagely a year and 3/4's until age 75, but unfortunately, Fryderyk had passed away in his sleep. After attending the mans funeral, Aldus set out again, from many towns and villages. His next arrival is in Night-veil.

Capabilities: 
Knowledge of carpentry and stone-masonry: Master.      
Fighting with fists and weapons: Competent (In ability to do so).
Skill with the Cello: Novice.

Additional Comments: Due to his hard labour over his life, he has a small case of osteoporosis that doesn't prevent him from doing daily tasks, but slow him down.
