Hi everyone. Just thought I'd add some elaboration to the contraception thing, as it's a slightly confusing/controversial addition given our general 'PG13' stance.

As you all should know, RPing pregnancy is a tough task that requires a lot of research, maturity, and RP experience; there are many ways it can go bad without any OOC regulation. For example, Mesalia has had many past instances where pregnancy was just a reason for needless drama, and once the players were bored, the kid was killed off. For these reasons, the rules state that you must have staff approval before you may RP a character as pregnant, or as someone with a pregnant significant other.

In the past, we always assumed there were contraceptives available in Mesalia so the 'but there aren't any contraceptive methods, and our characters have been having sex for ages, it wouldn't make sense for them to not be pregnant' excuse wouldn't be valid under any circumstances. Thus, the concept of contraceptives in Mesalia are not new; we just avoided putting it out there due to the implications. However, due to some recent RP, we're now just putting it out there. Silphium: it's a very interesting plant.

So there. Now you know that this isn't really a new thing, and everything's all cleared up. Though I probably should remind you that Mesalia's stance on over-sexualisation and realism, as well as our PG rating still stands. Like... this is still Mesalia, it's not a Game of Thrones episode.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, let us know.

Dandelion/Sunflower | Forest, Plains, Savannah, Swamp |
Uses:
Depression
Inflammation
Preparation:
Treatment of depression

Flower, flower bud and fruit can all be used. The flower can be dried and prepared as a red and rather pleasant tea at any time of year with the drawback that more flowers need to be used to get desired effect. The flower buds and fruit can be crushed to produce a red juice that can be added in water or tea. The juice have to be fresh but less flower buds or berries are needed to produce same effect as the dried flower. Potentially dangerous for patients with other or chronic mental diseases, especially if taken regularly over a longer time. Potentially decreases the contraceptive effect of silphium if used excessively as well.
Treatment of Inflammation
The red juice of the flower buds and fruits can be applied to wounds/rashes/etc to treat inflammation. The amount of juice needed however remains rather large compared to other herbs.
