[10] Rules Revision [In-Game and In-Character Policies]
#6
I second Spitfire as it's partly the very foundation behind the current policy on it.

(As for the PG-13 matter, it falls on right side of the line, as a note, as it's not allowed to RP it out)

(Yes, nowadays it works with proxy servers if you're ready to do some tweaks, but you're gonna be easily called out.)

I still heavily disagree, as French pointed out just because you have two excellent RPers who can RP it and/or its fallout doesn't mean they should. Though I do still question whether anyone can even come close to truly having the ability or knowledge to RP it, which is not an attack on anyone's RP skills I promise but with much consideration on the topic I feel this is above and beyond anyone and everyone. I am made extremely uncomfortable by its presence in RP and clearly I am not as alone in that opinion as I thought I was, it being realistic isn't a defence that I can accept unfortunately, typed out or not I personally feel that rape being present in RP is fundamentally wrong, almost trivialises the issue as it is used as a plot device or tool to move a story forward no matter how "seriously" it is taken, and is disrespectful towards anyone who has suffered it (whether it be the intention of the server or not to be disrespectful I see it as such). It is a step too far for me, and it is a shame that the server clashes with my personal morals this extremely. Rape is something that happens in real life, but RP is a fantasy world and I cannot accept rape being a part of it.

I realise the rules are unlikely to change, so this isn't made to convince you, but these are my views and they deserve to be heard.

I'd like to throw my opinion in here, just to get a point across.

Quote:Via Spitfire333> I'd like to disagree. Rape happens. Rape shouldn't just not exist because someone could get offended. Aren't we striving for realism here? If carried out by two good RPers who are being allowed to partake in it, there is no real reason that rape shouldn't be allowed.

If the server were to have always strove for realism, why is it that pedophilia is not allowed in the same context that it cannot be role-played out, just like the current rules on rape? That children can age immediately? It might make sense to the lore, but that's stepping into fantasy.

I say, if there needs to be anything changed, it's stop being in the middle of reality and fantasy. Allowing rape as an offset rp, otherwise, not roleplayed out, but ICly recognized, and not other things that would otherwise break the reality, seems a bit nonsensical to me. The claims that it makes for a more "realistic" point in life doesn't make sense if you get rid of other things for the same reason our friends French, Zio and Arc are complaining about rape. It's upsetting, but it is true. So let it either be cast all away, and given a white, easy-going, epic roleplay where people can sensibly and calmly roleplay without threat of such controversial things. Or let it be that of the dark, black area. Realism to the extreme, as people OOCly face things they recognize as real, and do not like, but come together in a false setting. In a more realistic, cold, dreary, yet overly satisfying roleplay.

Understandably, yes. There will be fantasy in this no matter how you change it. The very basis of Mesalia is the multiple races, some with powers. The many different arrays of objects, like the beacons. The many different minerals made in the roleplay. The vast, vastvastvast number of people, ethnicities. There's nothing except from a clean history wipe that'd solve that. And I wouldn't even dare want that. The lore, the style. The setting. It's all unique. The roleplay policies, however, prove a bit... two sided, grey.

I know, my opinions aren't really to be taken, as I do not even frequent this lovely roleplay anymore. But I want you to consider, to take either or, and let nothing be grey about it. Because to me, that makes no sense to do it any other way.

Similar sentiment here. I believe an integral part of playing any game involves supporting and endorsing (even just implicitly) its rules, and I'm afraid the proposed amendment is one I cannot support and refuse to endorse.

I second Night and partly Dark. ('m not gonna keep repeating arguments.)

Can we not toss semi-accusations? While I understand your opinion and standpoint and don't mind it, this is extremely offensive to me on a more personal level. I can assure you we do not condone anything anymore than an author writing a book. This is not a game, this is player-written stories.

We don't condone racism. We don't condone fascism. We don't condone war. We don't condone a shit tonne of a lot of the dark aspects of the Mesalian fantasy world. This includes the topic at hand.
