The Artisan Guild

Founded by Zarkaylia Duras, The Artisan Guild represents the craftsmen in Valour who does not fit into other areas. These craftsmen are usually specialists and either alone or scarce within their area. Examples are jewellers, engineers, bakers, and so on.

The guild does not work the same way as many of the other guilds. It is a guild that mainly functions as a forum and gathering for these artisans, with a representative that assure they are all happy and cared for. Should problems arise, the representative work towards solving them.

Each individual member has their own business.

The Valour Labour Guilds consists of several, smaller branches. Each branch is independently operated by workers within them.

These branches operate under the moderation, but not ownership or management of, Avery Martillo (referred to as Artimies). The branches operate under a system of public/worker ownership. As such, no individual can claim or make sole decisions for the branch. Nor is there a role for the traditional guild master.

A simple way to describe the "guilds" is that they are cooperative businesses. They're operated and ran by the entirety of the workers within each guild in a system of economic democracy. Branch members elect a representative to communicate their wants and needs to Avery whose job is to see those provided.

This system seeks to eliminate competition between workers in favor of collective action. This comes with the benefit of Valour's townsfolk not having to compete against each other and instead keeps competition to being against businesses outside the town. The downside is that much of the economic management falls on Avery and the Ruby Phoenix to keep trade and production flowing.

Elected Representative: This role is an individual elected by the guilds to have the added responsibility to communicate with Avery on the guild's needs. Needs including but not limited to concerns of the guild, materials and instruments of production. It is important to keep in mind that this is not a leadership role. The representative does not have power or authority over the guild. The guild can also to express to Avery they would like a new representative if they feel their current is not meeting responsibilities.

Valour

The settlement beneath the glowing mountain

Location:
Valour is located in a river delta along the Southern coast of the continent.
It lies 1 week by sea East of Nightveil and 2-3 weeks by sea West of Corelia.

Description:
Valour rest within a narrow inlet, in a valley and beneath a small mountain that glows of luminescens crystals. It is a growing town that stands out in that it harbours the seat of a mercenary band called The Broken Wheel and has no established rule or governence. Every citizen has a say. It is also lawless, but anyone disturbing the peace is not tolerated.

Most prominent to the town's structure is the Broken Wheel's hall. It lies just at the docks. Aside from this the town has several functioning structures, artisans, craftsmen and more.

History:
Valour was, like many settlements, not the first attempt at one in its location. Older structures such as the bridge house and the town hall stand out as older and different than the rest. Ancient ruins also rest nearby, witnessing of an ancient civilization once living there.

Valour, as it is today, started as a new place to live at and explore for Zarkaylia and Ezri Duras. They were shortly after joined by more people and slowly the settlement started to grow.

Present Day:
Currently the town has grown rather large and the rise of guilds and an eventual incoming guard force has Valour standing on the brink of some form of governance. While still threatened by old enemies and facing internal struggles...
