But yeah, agree with the celestia song opinion, Twilight earned it. But I can't help but feel, as good as the songs are, there was just too many in this episode.

Also I can't help but feel like this episode was the most grim, mainly

Because we got to see what it would be like if the mane six were somebody else. That and I can only assume Twilight now lives back in Canterlot since she is now a princess, so her friends will miss her, and they obviously can't come to stay in Canterlot with her, because as we saw, ponyville wouldn't survive without them :/ And the most grim part Twlight is an Alicorn, so there's a high chance if not 100% chance she is immortal now, so she would have to watch her friends die, whilst she lives on :c

On a happier note it was nice to see the ponies so happy when they recovered their true selves :3

Season 4 facts and speculation

It's been confirmed by a number of people on the show that Twilight is going to remain in ponyville, even as a princess. Here's Tara Strong, voice of Twilight and a fuckload of other cartoon characters:
A lot of the fans were worried she is going to leave, but she's going to stay in Ponyville and have adventures with them. (Click quote for source.)
So... it's not that dark.

Also... considering at the end of the finale, Twilight flies just fine... I think there's not really a need for an episode. Though Rainbow Dash is still a faster/more experienced flyer than her, so perhaps there's still room for lessons.

Either way, I think "everything will be just fine", as Twilight said.

Too many songs complaints, I can understand. But... without the songs, the plot wouldn't move quickly enough and the episode would feel even more rushed. This episode definitely would've been better as a two parter, but I think it was great when you consider the creative limitations the writers had. This episode could've been so very much worse.

Season 3 Finale

I also think the 'seeing them as someone else' thing was great. A concern with Twilight becoming a princess was that it would send out the message 'all girls should want to be a princess'. But in this episode, we see the ponies doing jobs that are beyond their expertise. There's nothing wrong with the jobs, what's wrong is that the ponies who are doing them aren't being true to themselves. Just another way of saying 'there's many ways to be a good person, just pick the one that suits you'.

Season three might very well be the best season thus far. They really managed to make most episodes enjoyable and constantly keeping me waiting for next Saturday. The ending really completed the whole show, and kept me excited for next season; especially since season three's finale was only part one of a three part story which has been said to continue in season four.

The finale is one of the few episodes I've watched more than once. I can't get enough of the songs, and I get feels every time I watch it. It's definitely my favorite episode yet.

Twilight really earned her new status and worked hard to fulfill her destiny. The entire show has been building up to this point. I can't wait to see what new adventures the main six go through now that Twilight is a princess.

I agree Screem, I get walking around humming the songs! XD Loved them and can't wait for next season, quite exciting to wait and see what's next after this.
