I'll help you get this hammered out so we can get danny-boy into the settings. Few things stick out as issues but luckily they're easy to fix

... They showed him the direction of one of the bigger, more civilized, port towns to the south and simply let him go.

"Follow the coast down the south, until you reach the town of Auria. Stick to the beach."

The new setting is far to the north of Auria, but in this instance I think you might have meant Ravenna, if that is the case, she has been lost for a long time so the caravan wouldn't likely know about Ravenna being to the south. Ravenna does not sit on the coast, but to the east of the sea on a large river. From the north, Ravenna wouldn't appear like a mere village. Poor Danny wont be able to find a way in to the city until he circles around to the southern shore which is where the port and bridge is.

Otherwise you're looking good. Fix that up and we'll have you in, in no time.
