History of Khaordum

I'll be writing this is bullet point form simply to make it easier and more concise. It's not a finished lore, and is in no way final for my universe.

Prehistory
- Life began on Khaordum, primal and animalistic in nature. The creatures differed across the four realms due to the balance of energy.
- First humanoid life appeared in Sallow. They knew religion and faith from an early time, and called themselves Elsward, God-Protecting.
- Some time later humanoid life appeared in Hortia, and so began the Averian people.
- The Elsward create the Cross-road, a tangible link between all four realms.

History
- The Elsward cross into Hortia, meeting the Averians for the first time. The Averians worship the mystical Elsward as Gods. This is viewed as heresy by the Elsward, and the present Averians are put to death.
- Word travels, and more Averians come, slaughtering the Elsward in turn, displaying their superior physical strength.
- The surviving Elsward flee to Sallow, and raise an army to fight the heretical Averians.
- The first great war begins, lasting fifty long years. The Averian people are decimated, and the survivors bound in chains and enslaved.
- For fifteen generations the slavery lasted. The Averians came to learn of the Elsward Gods.
- A great uprising began, and a war of liberation followed, aided passively by Elsward who no longer saw the point of slavery.
- The Elsward return to Sallow after being defeated, and for the first time since its creation, the Cross-road closes.
- The two races live apart for three centuries, the past falling to dusty tomes and old tales.
- Sallow is hit by a great disaster, and the Elsward are largely annihilated. The Cross-road is opened, and the surviving population look to Hortia and its inhabitants for salvation.
- The Averians welcome the dying race, and thus cause the joining of two civilisations.
- The two races integrate, working together. Rumours abound of the Elsward conversing with their Gods through statues, though nothing is made of it.
- The first recorded birth of a union between Elsward and Averian happens. In this case, and every case since, the birth is twins. The offspring were physically weaker than either parent, and were found to wield only half of the six elements. They came to be known as Lumials (Child of Light) and Umbrials (Child of Shade) and their names became synonymous with the elements they wielded.
- Several centuries later Hortia was once more engulfed in war. The Lumial and Umbrial races each fought their own wars against the combined Averian and Elsward people. A shaky truce between the Lumials and Umbrials was often threatened by assassinations and espionage.
- The war was ended by a powerful group of Elsward who then decreed the Lumials and Umbrials banished from Hortia. For the first time the bridges to Azarius and Yonwyn were crossed.
- Following the war the Elsward broke off from the Averian people and returned once again to Sallow, lest history repeat. For the second time the Cross-road closed.
- Now apart from their parent races, the Lumials and Umbrials developed separate cultures and religions. The Lumials found faith in a single Goddess of all things, whilst the Umbrials believed in deities that protected all they saw.
- The great High-Elsward, rumoured descendants of the powerful Elsward who ended the second war, ordered the Cross-road reopened, and parties sent to Azarius and Yonwyn. The realms of Azarius and Yonwyn were evacuated at the behest of the High-Elsward.
- Years later, once the evacuation was complete, the link to Azarius and Yonwyn was severed. The Cross-road was renamed as the Divine Bridge.
- The new mix of society spread, with Averians, Lumials, and Umbrials settling in Sallow for the first time in recorded history.
- The four races integrated once more, though were far more segregated than before.
- The age of naval travel arrived, and the races took to the high seas. Each race used their particular talents to aid their sailing, and their ships relfected this.
- The link between Hortia and Sallow began to falter. Sallow was discovered to be dying. Like an ailed man the realm could recover, but no one knew how to do such a thing.
- Sallow was largely evacuated, though many opted to stay for the time. Some searched for a way to save Sallow, others stayed for their livelihood. Others even ventured into the realm.
