Theo's Journal
#1
The following is all written in the Lucin language.

It has now been two days since I have arrived in Nightveil and I have seen a suspiciously low amount of activity in this town. The two souls I have come across are both Mesalians, leading me to believe that I must continue using the Lucin language here in ths journal should I wish to retain the ease at which it comes to me currently. Additionally, none of the common folk should be able to read it, and I have seen little to no evidence of a Lucin population in this town.

The first day, I met Rahan sitting alone at the bar. A hardy, if plain, man, he will likely be helpful in my plans regarding my room. He is a miner, and claims to have come to this town in search of adventure. His spirit is in the right place, it seems, even though his skillset is not.

After retiring to a room in the inn, I stowed my coins and journal in the chest I was given, and discovered something underneath the chest. There appears to be a trap door of sorts, and given the previous vacancy of the room I doubt anyone has been in there. It may connect to the tunnels Rahan infomed me of. I have resolved not to tell the innkeeper, lest I risk being moved from the room. It will be good for me to have such an intrigung opportunity for discovery so soon after my arrival.

I spent the next morining searching for Rahan to discuss the spelunking opportunity with. I first started in the library (foolish in retrospect as he seems uneducated) and failed to locate him there. I did some searching for books on the history of Nightveil, but againw was unlucky. I snooped about the restricted attic section, but the only things up there are writing tools and a bookshelf.

When I entered the bar to look for Rahan, I met a young lady named Lien. She seems far too skilled with a lute to be a prostitute by trade, and yet she acts like one with years of experience. She seems quite interested in me, at least initially, and will likely be useful for some fun when I have myself organized. Until then, she likely has little of value to offer me. She is, after all, just a common woman, and a young inexperienced one at that.

I will have to locate Rahan again, in any case.
