Server Resource Pack
#1
We've tried mods and such but I believe it's reached the point where the server may need a custom texture pack for our little community. For small items, tools, trinkets and NPC's. So that being said, there is no way I can do something as large as an entire custom texture pack. So our option is as follows, we find a texture pack we can run/enjoy/tolerate server side, and I edit it into what we want and need.

If you do not have 'load server resource packs' selected on your launcher that will be necessary but you won't need to download or install the texture pack.

The texture packs and their resolution that staff is considering are as follows.

BDCraft (128x)
-will be changing all fonts to something easier to read.
-Dev time will be longer with higher res
-Maybe too big for slower computers/weak connections
-Cartoony/Comic Book style

Dokucraft (32x)
-Will be changing chiseled stone textures to something consistent with build style
-Easier for slower/older machines but still harder than default
-Beautiful texture pack to start with

John Smith Legacy (32x)
-Wont need to change many if any textures for setting. Middle aged themed already.
-Easier for slower/older machines but still harder than default
-Beautiful texture pack to start with

Vanilla (16x)
-best for slow computers/crap connections
-least amount of dev time

So what I'd like to know from as many of you as possible is, Which will work best for you? Which pack do you like as a starting point? What sort of unique blocks or items would you like added or changed?

I've actually taken some pictures of the game with BDCraft/Grungecraft. The place feels more rustic with both of them installed.

I can definitely see where you're coming from with that. I personally don't care for the textures GrungeCraft adds, though I know that style is popular. As far as making a custom textures for the server, that pack would be far too labor intensive for me to edit into something viable for Mesalia.

I'll look into it soon as I can. I'll probably take the time to when I usually log on.

BDCraft
I'm personaly not a fan of the cartony style.

DokuCraft
This... used to be great, I recall it as great, and it does some things better than many other packs but other things just don't look too great. The grass texture drives me nuts. But I think it better than BDCraft.

John Smith Legacy
I've been using this for a while and it's good.

Idea
I know it's frowned upon here and there if credits not given where credit should be given, but one can pick some things from some packs and add to a "mix". Mentioning in case it'd ease the work.

That said, that can be done to vanilla along with what you'd like to do yourself? And I think priorities still exist so you can use more than one pack?
