Raven's Peak Launch Rules!
Weâre finally Ready for our new map, but there's a couple of rules that need to be followed IC and OOC. This is so that the map remains fun, and fair to everyone. Donât forget when you first log in, collect your IC items from the chests and remain at spawn, read the signs, and wait for staff instruction.
- No OOC exploration.
This is a RP server. If you are going to explore, then youâre going to do it with a small group, and youâre going to RP how you do it. Hopping around like an idiot on your own and only claiming to be IC when you see something shiny isnât how itâs done here. Period. This is exactly like the middle map; there is a lot to this map, but it really is best explored IC and not as OOC derping. Donât put the hard work of our server builders to shame by not fully sinking your RP teeth into the setting. On that note, There is no point running around to try and see the entire map, not only will it take hours but staff hasnât finished the builds outside of Ravenâs Peak so there isnât really much point to it ATM. When you first log in, collect your IC items from the chests and remain at spawn for staff instruction.
- No claiming houses.
As excited as we are for the new map and by extension, new homes for our characters, you are not to run around and claim property; that is not how this server works, even remotely. AGAIN, everything has to be RPed, from who and where folks get to live, to what buildings get the TLC first based on the communal needs of the cast. Again this is an RP server, not an adventure map; itâs not about loot or who has the biggest home. Mesalia is about the RP, and the story the staff have made for you around your new homes. Claiming homes without the proper RP necessary will be seen as disobeying staff and thus a rule break. Donât do it.
On this note, Iâd like you to honestly consider what person in their right mind sees an unoccupied house, and just runs in yelling âmine!â. That sort of behavior makes no sense IRL, and given everyone in the cast (with the exclusion of Bishop and Caius) is an adult, it makes no sense IC. Please note that it is metagaming to own more structures than your character can reasonably maintain. When a structure being claimed is eventually RPed out, note the sizes and distances of the structures and consider your characterâs ability to maintain them. You might find that they canât live alone.
- You cannot live in ruined houses.
Ravenâs Peak is an extremely old city, and much of her is in disrepair. That being said, those homes youâve been keen on claiming arenât livable yet. They need attention IC, repairs, clean-up, and some serious TLC before any character can realistically live in one. Having said that, given this is a community RP, the first buildings to get repaired arenât likely to be the homes since that only benefits one or two people. What's likely to come first are the community buildings such as forges, inns, clinics, and other places that may be present in the city. After that, attention may turn to the houses, but these repairs also need to be RPed at a pace befitting our metagaming rules.
- Do not OOC bury people.
This one is for your safety and the staffâs sanity. Some areas have redstone; others have tunnels and stuff that do not need unearthing. DO NOT dig holes to bury yourself or AFKers or even Rand. With this setting, you run too much of a risk of digging into something, so burying yourself or others is now considered a form of griefing. We canât allow it for now.
- Unless you want your character to die, do not climb or jump from the cliffs.
The cliffs in Ravenâs Peak are all but sheer. There is no climbing up them, and jumping off them is deadly every time. Your character tries either then they will fall and they will die. You have been warned.
- All spawners can only be removed by staff.
Staff must be asked about the removal of any spawners, be it during reconstruction/cleaning efforts or if in the more dangerous sections of Ravenâs Peak and the surrounding area.
- Unless your character wants to look funny, donât use a desert skin.
The characters are past the desert now. They donât need those robes. However, if your character has decided to wear their desert clothes for whatever reason, theyâre welcome to.
- Donât ignore the setting and its story.
This is an RP server, and as such there is a certain amount of story telling to be had in our setting and in whatâs there already. While everyone has a private life, and thatâs to be expected to some degree, you are still expected to RP with the whole of the group. The neglect of the central story line by the players will have huge effects on their ability to live out their lives and possibly even the potential fate of the realm, depending on just how serious things get. Donât shut yourself off on the far side of the map; donât exclude yourself from group RP, and donât ignore the OBVIOUS PLOT going on in front of your characters. Folks, think about this situation from their perspective, not from the OOC perspective of loot and big houses. Thatâs not what Mesalia is about.
A Final Note:
Although we worked very hard on this setting, and are very worried about the quality of RP that is put into it, itâs not all about us being happy with the way it turns out. The reason we make these rules we do is to keep everyone at equal standards for exploration, claiming, etc., so that things arenât rushed and RPed out in good time. Our goal in doing this is to allow things to go at their own pace and for RPs to be meaningful in this epic new setting, so that you wonât have to worry about other characters exploring things before you, claiming homes before you, etc. All you should be worried about is having fun and extraordinary RPs in this magnificent setting, and weâre doing all we can to ensure that!
In conclusion, this new setting is going to be fucking epic, for many reasons, most of which are surprises. Besides for finally being able to settle down and RP (which Iâm sure weâve all been waiting for for quite awhile), thereâs also another great factor to our new setting. If we all stay with the main group during events and donât rush things, each and every one of your characters will have a massive role in the plot line of this setting, not to mention even the possibility of having effect on the lore itself... but thatâs another story.
