Your Character Biography:
Ryan Wilde loved the idea of construction. He would watch carpenters do their jobs, and he couldn't wait for the day when he could do the same. But, he was only 3 years old, and that's when the War of Veld began. He didn't do much at his young age. He could only say a few sentences clearly. But, he knew what "war" meant, and he got frightened when every the word popped up. When he first heard of the War of Veld, he was afraid. His older brother, Timothy, believed that if you fought as hard and as willingly as you could, things would go your way. For that reason, Timothy left to fight the Xitians. Ryan thought that Timothy would never come back, but as he waited, he grew older and more responsible, taking family matters into his hands and not thinking about his older brother too often.
In Ryan's free time, he would go into the woods and practice making fires and small spears and knives that would be useful for survival. He would do this because of the books he had read. Books such as "Stranded Man", "In The Depths of the Wilderness", and his favorite, "The Lost Boy". In all of the books, people got lost in the forest, from hurricanes, ship wrecks, or even unknown reasons. He felt that if he were going to get stranded in the wilderness, he'd need to know how to survive. He would also go to Jon Henley's house and learn about how he survived for 24 years in the wilderness before finding this peaceful town of Parithuga. Jon Henley was one of Ryan's best friends. He may have been old and scruffy, but he felt like he could tell Jon anything. It was almost as if he were a substitution for Timothy. Jon would even let Ryan stay over if he felt tired after Jon continued his stories of survival.
When he didn't feel like practicing his new skills, he would go to buildings that were under construction and help carry planks of wood and bricks, and sometimes he would even get to help put up walls or lay down roofs. When he could find nothing to work on, he would go down to the restricted mines. He wasn't really interested in working in the mines for hours and hours everyday, but he liked watching the miners find rare ores. He went there so often, the miners didn't care that he would hang around with them as they searched for special resources. The only problem was that his father was a miner as well, and he would never allow Ryan to go down into the mines. That puzzled Ryan because his father never really cared about him. He didn't care about his safety or how helpful he tried to be. He apparently just didn't want Ryan near him while at work.
One day when Ryan was walking down into the mine, he heard the scuffle-skuff of his father's shoes. Ryan looked down further into the mines and saw his father running towards him with a torch. Ryan bolted away, tripping over rocks and people in the process. Ryan ran so hard, that he started to get light headed and had to stop for a moment. During that moment of resting, his father found him and hit him in the side, causing Ryan to bite down on his tongue. Blood filled Ryan's mouth and he quickly spit the disgusting liquid onto the ground. His father slowly walked towards Ryan, pulling his belt off and cracking it on his hand. Ryan hated the feeling he got every time that happened. His father would whip him with his belt everyday until his skin was rose red.
After Ryan's father whipped him a horrible seven times, Ryan passed out. His father then left and went back to mining. When Ryan awoke, he crawled back to the house, hoping for his mother to show some pity for him and tend to his wounds, but that would never happen. When he crawled through his front doorway, he looked into the kitchen area and saw his mother asleep with rum in one hand and a knife in the other. Rum was splatter all under her, and drool blanketing the table. Ryan sighed and pulled himself up the stairs and into his room, where his dog Kobe guarded the door. Ryan laid down next to the dog and thought about everything. His father was an old, abusive bastard, and his mother was a drunken mess. They had been like that ever since Timothy had been confirmed dead.
Later that day, after Ryan had patched up his wounds, he left his home with no trace left behind. At the age of 11, he decided it was finally time. As he limped away from the village, he heard someone following him. He turned around and saw Kobe. Ryan decided that he could tag along, for he needed the company and a good hunter. With a scar covered, abused body and a dog, Ryan walked into the wilderness.
As he walked deeper into the forest, he started to get hungrier and hungrier. He sent his dog out on long trips for food. Every time Kobe was gone for more than two hours, Ryan started to get worried. But, Kobe would always come back, and Ryan eventually started to not get as worried if he were out for too long. During the days of his traveling, he would build small shelters if he felt that they would stay in a certain area for a while.
Eventually, he started coming across villages and towns. He would have a nice meal to eat and a soft bed to sleep in. He could also take cover when he saw suspicious warriors running through the woods. He would stay at each village for around 10 to 13 days, not enough to get hooked, but enough to catch up with what's happening in the real world. He would help the village people make houses and restaurants, for he wanted to help out and also improve his carpentry skills. He eventually got so good, he started helping with taverns and multi-leveled buildings. During the time he spent in the villages, he "recharged". But, for some reason, he never felt at home in these places. Even after a 20 day stay at one village, he never really felt welcome. No one would really talk to Ryan, for he was a semi-disoriented newcomer. Ryan felt determined to find a permanent home, and he wouldn't stop searching until that home had been found. So, he would keep on walking, in the same direction every time.
Sadly, his dog eventually started growing old, as was he. Ryan knew that the day would come when his best and favorite companion would leave him for the gates of heaven. And one day, on the shore of a peaceful river, Kobe stopped walking and laid down. He rolled onto his side and closed his eyes. A pair of eyes that would never open again. Ryan heard a small cry for help from Kobe and he turned around, to the site of his dog, laying lifelessly in the sand. Ryan collapsed onto his knees and sobbed for hours.
The next day, Ryan had a private funeral and tucked Kobe into a hole that Ryan dug out in the ground. Ryan reached into the hole before covering it up and lightly loosened Kobe's collar and pulled it over his head. Ryan pushed it into his pocket and filled the hole. He then walked away slowly, with a broken heart. He knew that he needed to carry on, though. For Kobe. For Timothy.
He was 46 years old when Kobe had died, and he needed to find somewhere to settle down for a good long while. As he walked through a large forest, Ryan found a strange structure with a glass box holding a blue orb. "It's a beacon! I've read about these! This could lead to a worthwhile place.. and I feel my life slipping away. It's time to start over."
Personality
Ryan is a gentle but determined person. He always gets things done when he needs to, but he is careful in the process. He is also caring and thoughtful. He loves animals and gets along with other humans very well. He tries to stay away from violence, but will protect himself if danger arose.
Appearance
Ryan has shaggy blonde hair with grey spots at the roots. His eyes are a light grey-blue color. His shirt is often a dull green color and his pants are a deep blue. He has a barely visible scar under his left eye and whip marks on his back. His right chin is almost always pulled up and one eyebrow is often down, making him look a bit confused, though he rarely ever is.
