Russia invading people :o
#1
Anyone in Mesalia apart of the countries potentially being attacked?

"Potentially attacked" is rather vaguely worded, I do think the only country where Russian troops have moved in is Ukraine. Due to the unrest there. And they're not attacking, they've just moved troops into place to intervene so far.

Far as I'm aware we have no East-European members at the moment. Fact is, I think the one closest to Russia would be myself and Russia's certainly not focusing its attention on us atm, even if Sweden's admittedly about to up our defences along with, as it appears, the rest of the Scandinavian countries.

Though I doubt there's any need to worry. Russia's just worrying they'll lose what grip they had on Ukraine.

... They might shut England's gas and oil off. Does that count?

Besides, the only real aggression has come from pro-russian militias. Russia's done nothing but move into Crimea yet to protect it's interests in the region.

I've heard more countries fear they'll shut that off if Russia's sanctioned. I'd say it counts as it's bit of... political warfare? If oil and gas are cut, prices will skyrocket.

But yeah, like Hutchy says. Russia's not done much as of yet.

As I understand it, Russia is going to recognize Crimea as its own country, and then basically just use it as a warm water port to get to the Mediterranean. Of course, they'll have to cross the Bosporus Strait to get into the Mediterranean, so Turkey and its desire for the Eurozone could potentially make things worse if its accepted into the EU and the EU tires to deny Russia access to the Bosporus. Even then, real conflict would only arise if Turkey began talks with the EU and then closed off the Bosporus, Russia goes through anyway, and a Russian ship is attacked. Even if the first two happened, I don't really think anyone is stupid or confident enough to attack a Russian ship crossing the strait. I also doubt they'd attempt to take the rest of Ukraine, as they really have nothing to gain once they have Crimea.

I'm not exceedingly well versed in this and correct me if I'm wrong, but its my understanding that the only thing that will happen is a few sanctions against Russia. No one is going to attack anyone.
