How did you find us? (Forums, friend, previous member, etc…)
A long time ago I found Mesalia on Yogscast forums, but this time I was brought back by the awesome community here & good past experience I had.
About You:
I’m a 17 year old soon to be senior in high school in good ol’ USA. I’m deeply involved in soccer as well as various religious groups and volunteer work. I was beginner role-player a while ago but Mesalia has helped me to improve leaps and bounds, allowing those I RP with and I to enjoy my experience here a lot more. Call me whatever you feel is best, I find Tim often to be the most popular choice.
Name:
Delilah Evendrop
Age:
41
Gender:
Female
Appearance:
Delilah looks as you would expect an alcoholic forty-one year old who has been on the road for over ten years to look; quite wretched. She stands slightly taller than your average female height, but appears to be measurably smaller due to an unnaturally thin frame in which bones can occasionally be seen beneath the skin.
She has large, emerald eyes, which stand out on a face that doesn’t match their beauty. Her facial features, while not as bony as the rest of her frame, give evidence of a few jutting bones - particularly in her cheeks. Her teeth show evidence of years of drinking and lack of care. An un-kept mop of light brown, almost dirty blond, hair sits atop it all. Cut quite short as to not cause unnecessary work for its host, it also hides several graying hairs within the tangles.
She wears a simple, tattered, and loose white shirt beneath a small tan lace shawl that has been torn in several places. A simple pair of faded black, baggy capris resides on her lower half with holes in the knees and evidence of other tears elsewhere. All her clothes are covered in dirt and grass-stain from years of travel without much cleaning.
Personality:
Delilah is an ISFP. As her looks suggest, Delilah has a very withdrawn and careless personality from years of being thrown in the direction of various caretakers and life’s most brutal winds. Although reserved and unlikely to initiate conversation, Delilah is often surprisingly charming upon first confrontation. She has a laid back attitude, and a knack for picking out the right compliment or greeting to make someone feel good towards themselves as well as her.
Years of abandonment and rejection has led her to long for a feeling of acceptance and love from anyone who may give it to her, but at the same time she blames all of these failures in past personal relationships on herself and remains afraid that getting too close to someone will end in their death or some other tragedy. Delilah also loathes having other people tell her what to do, particularly when it constrains her freedom. She wishes to be left unbounded by social restraints, even close relationships, and will often do whatever it takes to stay free of them; this may entail violently ruining them.
Despite her aspirations towards total freedom, at her age Delilah has begun to understand that she can’t do everything on her own. She hates to settle down, but realizes her body may simply not be able to keep moving. Although she hasn’t quite accepted this new realization, Delilah is on the verge of giving up some of the few things still important to her, including her search for her sister. At this final breaking point in Delilah’s life, it can either be her final failure or her first moment of acceptance.
Backstory:
The flames crawled closer to her feet and she suddenly felt a wall of terrified screams and mass confusion break against her as adrenaline began to pulsate through her minuscule frame. Her mother was nowhere to be seen, run off somewhere into the jungle to avoid their father the night prior as she had done so many times in the past when he was in his drunken stupors. Later her mother would return to find her home burned to the ground, along with the remainder of the town, only to assume her family were now just ash. Delilah turned to her sister Jenny, but was stunned at her absence. She began to tremble violently as she slowly backed away from the flames. Surely Jenny would sweep her up, tell her where to go, just as she had done so many times before when their father was in his drunken rages. Delilah’s pace picked up now. She knew that she would be safe; her sister would be there any minute to protect her. Suddenly she found herself tumbling into the crumbling hut wall behind her, taking it with her to the floor as the fire exploded outward with a roar. Delilah let out a muted yelp through her small grimace and backed away on her hands and butt into the confusion outside her home, where the remainder of her hometown was being burned to the ground, only to find herself at the feet of a large young man. He held a dying flame in the palm of his hand and a look of pity came over him as his eyes made contact with her large, petrified emerald eyes.
“I’m so sorry little girl…” The Xitian managed to muster. Delilah pleaded for the man’s help with her eyes, reaching out her hands to the kind-looking stranger, eager to have someone direct her out of the madness in her sister’s absence yet unaware of the danger of his red eyes. The man hesitated, but with a heavy look of disappointment weighing on his face he gently picked her up and held her so she could see the destruction behind his back as she rested her head on the kind stranger’s shoulder. “I’m only following orders,” he murmured to his captive, but it was more for himself that he said this. Delilah noticed a tear crawl down the man’s face as he brought her towards the slaveholders. “It’s okay.” She whispered into his ear through her fear just as her sister had always done for her. “Everything will be okay.”
The young Xitian Kys’ol, overwhelmed with guilt after bringing such a young girl to what he knew would scar her for life, had somehow managed to make certain Delilah ate and drank every day inside the camp, and would often speak to her and comfort her in the face of nightmarish experiences. Kys’ol became a makeshift father figure for Delilah, something she had never had before. He cared for her almost as a daughter, and she loved him dearly. He was, after all, the only thing that made her smile in these dark times.
The night the Lucins began their attack on Delilah’s camp, Kys’ol managed to convince her to come with him and escape – he believed that she would be worse off with the Lucins than she was with him. That night he handed her a small, Xitian dagger and told her to always keep it in case they ever got separated. “If you’ve made it this far, kid, you’re tough enough to survive anything. Don’t let me down.” And with a shy but proud smile, she branded these words forever in her memory, and the dagger forever at her side.
Before there was even a chance to leave the town, Kys’ol, along with many red-eyed ‘Mesalians’ were captured and forced to take part in brutal trials to determine whether or not they were of Xitian descent. Delilah watched as Kys’ol tried endlessly to not let his powers show in these gruesome trials but would eventually witness his failure. On the day of his execution, a Lucin pair held him down with ice, while a Mesalian executioner asked for his last words. It was then that Delilah let everything out, and the eight year old gave the crowd a peace of her mind. Yes, he was Xitian, yes, she saw what they did to her peers, and yet he showed more love to her than any Mesalian- her sister included. She begged them not to kill him, but all she got was scornful looks and mass disapproval. The town didn’t understand how she could be so disrespectful to the Lucins and Mesalians that had fought to save her. The consensus was that Kys’ol’s previous crimes were nowhere near pardoned by his kindness towards the filthy traitor girl, and yet again Delilah watched as a head fell to the ground and another father died before her eyes.
As Delilah grew older, she was encouraged to aid in her mother’s hobby and trade of sculpting statues when she wasn’t receiving schooling. Although it was hard for her to stand her mother, she enjoyed sculpting enough to persistently learn the skill, and in time she honed her art so that the difference between teacher and student was quite small. Being a person whose thoughts were never heard, Delilah found solace in the idea that her creations and emotions were forever locked in time within the stone for everyone to see. When her anger and angst overwhelmed her, she would often find a way to channel it into her hammer and chisel.
Delilah was 19 when she began to notice the change in the townspeople as the ebb of Civil War found its way into the town. Greed and corruption quickly ate up the society she lived in, and many looked to the wealthy Lucins in power with envy and anger. Being a part of this family, she received even more hostility than she had previously. A sense of hopelessness and depression began to coincide with the anger she felt towards the injustice she had faced all her life. It didn’t help that Delilah would rigidly refuse any attempts her adoptive parents made at mending their strained relations with the town by courting her with various Mesalian men.
Over the following three years, tension grew more and more within the governing system of the town. Mesalian chairman of different parties grew continuously more aggressive with each other, and Delilah could tell the effects this had on her parents who often tried to make peaceful relations amongst the councilmen. On the night of Delilah’s 22nd birthday, the strained relations came to a head as her adoptive parents were assassinated in their sleep.
It was during the funeral, when nasty stares and threatening glances were constantly cast her way, that Delilah realized she belonged to no one anymore. The Xitians hated her, the Lucins didn’t want her, and now even her own race rejected her. She decided that she would leave that night before she was forced into the possession of another person who didn’t want her. No one deserved the burden of an incapable, unlovable, 22 year old failure – except herself. She gathered her best sculpting supplies, as much food as she could pack, some clothes, and the Xitian dagger Kys’ol had given her years ago which she had managed to keep hidden all this time. There was a brief hesitation before Delilah opened the door. She wished to say goodbye to Bruno, but knew she couldn’t stand to see him go through that pain right after watching him bear his parents’ death days before. Nonetheless, she found him standing on the other side of the door when she finally managed to open it – he had heard her.
He folded his arms, “Where are you going.” It didn’t even sound like a question, just a sad, hopeless statement.
Delilah saw the hurt in his eyes, and it destroyed her. “I’m doing what I have to, kid – why you give a shit anyway?”
Bruno was used to Delilah speaking to him this way, but in his response Delilah saw an anger she had never seen in Bruno before. “Because you’re my fucking friend. Even if you won’t call me yours.” He stopped for a moment and looked at the dirt. “You can’t leave me, sis…everyone has.”
“Fuck, Bruno, you know I can’t stay here.”
“Then I’ll come with you.”
“Forget it.” Delilah pushed by him and began her escape; then she stopped in her tracks. She remembered something. She remembered a scared, six-year-old girl standing amidst a scorched village waiting for her sister to save her. Delilah realized she was about to leave Bruno just as Jenny had left her sixteen years ago. She looked up to the sky for a moment and released the tension through a massive sigh. “Get your shit.”
Consequently, they didn’t stay anywhere too long, moving from place to place. After learning about the movement to the Forbidden Lands and deciding there was nothing to lose in taking part, they aimed their movement towards the coast where they could hitch a ride on a boat.
Bruno had picked up some combat skills when he was training in the town guard before having joined Delilah’s escapade, and in turn some of these skills were passed down to Delilah throughout their journey. She grew particularly good with a shifty practice bow Bruno had crafted for her from some tree branches. Over the years Delilah also continued her sculpting both as a way to make money in the towns as well as a way to channel her stress in the wild. The two grew very close over this time, and Delilah shared more with him about her life than she had anyone.
During the next year, Delilah began to notice a change in Bruno. He began to withdraw into himself more – uncharacteristically so – and became very hard to talk to. The friendship they had began to dwindle, and very oddly, Bruno began to try to make romantic advances towards Delilah. This put an awkward wedge in their relationship, and as the year went on Bruno’s advances became more frequent and more obscene; he had become a different person. Although Delilah didn’t understand what was happening, Bruno was falling deeper and deeper into mental illness. She wanted to run away from him, but felt like she had done it to him somehow in the same way that she had somehow killed everyone close to her previously.
The worst episode occurred at the end of the year when, after getting hammered at a local pub, Bruno very bluntly attempted to convince her to have sex with him. Sober Delilah rigidly refused and attempted to make an escape, but Bruno tackled her to the ground and began to pull at her clothes. In a rush of fear, Delilah reached for her Xitian dagger, which was hidden beneath her clothing, and threw a blind stab that landed in her stepbrother’s gut. He collapsed on to her, a primal look of fear, anger, and pain boiling in his eyes while she pushed him off and ran as far as she could before toppling into the dirt and sobbing in a ball of blood and sweat for what seemed like several lifetimes.
For six long years Delilah wasted away her adulthood searching for Jenny in the Forbidden Lands, piecing together bits of information and leads bringing her from town to town. By 40 years old, this vigilante lifestyle was getting hard for Delilah. She was almost ready to give up, to settle down and accept her failure of a life, when she got one final lead, which led her to an interesting settlement by the name of Auria. There, she was shown an old bakery where Jenny once lived, and told many of the people that may know her and where she went had moved on to a different place. This brought her to a massive ruined city – she admired the large Raven sculpted over the mountainside, and rested there in ‘Ravenna’ for a couple months before deciding to follow one last lead. Being 41 and unbelievingly travel weary, she took one last boat to an old mining town named Alroc where Jenny’s old group was rumored to be. This move, Delilah decided, would be make or break. Her body simply couldn’t survive anymore on its own.
Capabilities:
Sculpting - Advanced (Decayed from Expert)
Years of honing her skills both as a hobby and a job have made Delilah very proficient at this art. In what she hides from the world, she makes up for in the creativity within her mind that is chiseled into every sculpture she makes. For Delilah, sculpting is not a job or an art; it’s a passion that gets her through the best and worst times of life. It's this sheer passion that sets her apart from most sculptors, and a life full of emotion that she so vividly and creatively can express in her works. However, years of alcoholism have dulled even her most fiery passions, causing her interest and expertise in sculpting to dwindle.
Archery – Competent
Learned from Bruno in their scavenger years, archery was something Delilah loved to do and spent years honing her skills in it after being taught.
Combat Skills – Beginner
Bruno taught Delilah other skills during their time together, such as how to defend herself with her dagger or various pressure points / defensive maneuvers she could use unarmed. Having gone out of practice with all but archery and forgotten many of his lessons, Delilah’s skills in this area are still there but decayed.

Glad to be back :) Sorry for the long back-story, I did my best to make it as short as I could but I found that the older a character is the harder it is to keep it short; so thanks for reading this far!

Backstory:
Fiery Beginning
Towards End of War of Veld
(Age 6)
Amidst the remains of smoldering wood that cackled as it died at the hands of Xitian flames, a small girl stood paralyzed and stared into a raging inferno where her father slowly succumbed to ashes before her eyes. Feint echoes of her sister’s gentle words melted away in the boiling pot of mixed emotions convulsing around the child’s mind. She was only six years old, but it was in this moment when Delilah became an adult. The fire would not only engulf her father, but also the girl’s innocence. Towards End of War of Veld

The flames crawled closer to her feet and she suddenly felt a wall of terrified screams and mass confusion break against her as adrenaline began to pulsate through her minuscule frame. Tough Luck
Towards End of War of Veld
(Age 6)
Fortunately for Delilah, her capture came towards the end of the War of Veld. The Lucins had won much of the war already, and in only a few days they were rumored to reach the slave camp where Delilah was placed after the attack on her village. She had only spent a few months there, but in that short time Delilah had witnessed countless instances of the most desperate and brutal measures the Xitians had used to control and scare the Mesalians that grew more and more courageous with news of Lucin advancement. Murder after murder, torturing, testing, horrible insults, and much worse she witnessed every day. Many times the Xitians would speak horribly to her or spit on her, but due to Delilah’s age she was left alone more often than not. Despite this mercy, the girl inside her had died by the time she would escape from the camp. She felt used, pathetic, useless, and unloved. What bothered her most, however, was the fact that Jenny had abandoned her when she needed her the most. The love in her heart that Delilah had held for her sister and consequently life was suddenly replaced with a slowly growing ball of loathing for everything and almost everyone. The only person that still made Delilah feel like a human being was the Xitian who had first brought her to the camp; the same Xitian who had picked her up the night of the fire. Towards End of War of Veld
(Age 6)
The young Xitian Kys’ol, overwhelmed with guilt after bringing such a young girl to what he knew would scar her for life, had somehow managed to make certain Delilah ate and drank every day inside the camp, and would often speak to her and comfort her in the face of nightmarish experiences. Persecution
War of Veld -> Purge
(Age 6-8)
Kys’ol brought Delilah into hiding with a small group of Xitians for a year, but when he saw that the continuous persecution and harassment by his peers on his misfit adopted daughter was taking a toll on her, he decided it was time to get away from the people he had never felt much a part of to begin with. They left in the night and survived in the wilderness for several months, before discovering a large town of Mesalians and few Lucins to settle in. In their new home, Kys’ol played off that he was simply a Mesalian with red eyes, but still was watched carefully by much of the populace. It helped that the townsfolk saw that Delilah was happy with the man, so they figured he couldn’t be hurting her. The family was safe there for a while, and Delilah even smiled a little more, a piece of her love of life coming back. But then came the purge.War of Veld -> Purge
(Age 6-8)
Before there was even a chance to leave the town, Kys’ol, along with many red-eyed ‘Mesalians’ were captured and forced to take part in brutal trials to determine whether or not they were of Xitian descent. Delilah watched as Kys’ol tried endlessly to not let his powers show in these gruesome trials but would eventually witness his failure. On the day of his execution, a Lucin pair held him down with ice, while a Mesalian executioner asked for his last words. The consensus was that Kys’ol’s previous crimes were nowhere near pardoned by his kindness towards the filthy traitor girl, and yet again Delilah watched as a head fell to the ground and another father died before her eyes.
Balancing Out
Purge -> Civil War
(Age 8-22)
After Kys’ol’s execution, the traitor girl was sent to live with the leading official of the town and his wife – both of whom were Lucin – so that she may be ‘balanced out’ by her new Lucin family. Her eleven years there, however, only proved to strengthen her newfound hatred of the Lucin community. Her adopted parents attempted to spoil her with their tremendous riches, but quickly grew frustrated when she refused nearly everything they gave her. Delilah would only eat if she had to, and though she grew taller in her tween years, she maintained a ghastly skinny form. She contrasted enormously both in stature and personality with her adoptive parents’ blood-son Bruno, who was one year younger than Delilah and matched the typical physique of a spoiled child – small, blonde, slightly rounded, and highly freckled. Where Delilah evaded the Lucins’ gifts, Bruno sought them out. Where Delilah was introverted and angry, Bruno was outgoing and content. Where Delilah was rebellious and would often sneak out, Bruno was obedient and often alerted his parents to Delilah’s constant misbehavior. Despite their differences, Delilah couldn’t help but feel some love for the closest thing she ever had to a brother. Though she pretended to despise him often, Bruno could tell based on certain moments of compassion that she did have feelings for him. Purge -> Civil War
(Age 8-22)
As Delilah grew older, she was encouraged to aid in her mother’s hobby and trade of sculpting statues when she wasn’t receiving schooling. A Hard-Knock Life
Civil War
(Age 22-33)
The next 10 years of the new duo’s life was spent trying to belong somewhere. At times they would take refuge in the wilderness, alone and away from all the persecution and turmoil life in the Civil-War-torn towns always caused. At other times they would try to make themselves at home in nearby villages, but oftentimes found they were either unsatisfied with the dull life there or angered by the pointless conflicts present.Civil War
(Age 22-33)
Consequently, they didn’t stay anywhere too long, moving from place to place. After learning about the movement to the Forbidden Lands and deciding there was nothing to lose in taking part, they aimed their movement towards the coast where they could hitch a ride on a boat.
Bruno had picked up some combat skills when he was training in the town guard before having joined Delilah’s escapade, and in turn some of these skills were passed down to Delilah throughout their journey. He collapsed on to her, a primal look of fear, anger, and pain boiling in his eyes while she pushed him off and ran as far as she could before toppling into the dirt and sobbing in a ball of blood and sweat for what seemed like several lifetimes.
Slowly Chiseling Away
Dusk Portal Spark -> Civil War End -> Dusk Portal Opening
(Age 33-41)
This loss couldn’t be chiseled away by sculpting. In the next two years Delilah found herself drowning her sorrows in any liquor she could get her hands on. Quickly becoming an alcoholic, she found herself on the streets of various towns begging for food to survive and money to fuel her addictions. She held on to her life by a thread during this time, and eventually reached rock bottom when she was thirty-five. Out of money, deep in withdrawal, and facing the most loneliness in her life, she thought about the person who got her into this mess – Jenny. With nothing left to live for, Delilah suddenly became compelled by the desire to find her sister. Delilah wanted Jenny to see what abandoning her in that fire had caused her to become, what pain and torment it still caused her every day. Although she had no idea as to where Jenny was, Delilah could only assume that she was somewhere in the Forbidden Lands. It was, after all, the cowards way out of the chaos on the mainland; Jenny had proven already she was a coward in Delilah’s mind. Coincidently, there was a mass evacuation occurring in the town at the time due to news of a “spark in the Dusk Portal.” Delilah quickly gathered what little possessions she had and boarded one of the ships for the lands in search of her only living relative.Dusk Portal Spark -> Civil War End -> Dusk Portal Opening
(Age 33-41)
