Greetings Mesalians!
As the title states, the staff have concluded to remove the general chat in Skype that have been present for some time now. Why we've made this decision follows below.
For some time Mesalia have had a so called general chat on Skype for all its players. It was a requested feature some years ago now that we decided to try out and it stuck for quite some time.
However, it's never been fully popular. Nor has it always been a good thing to have for the community and more than once the chat have unfortunately just caused problems. The rules had to turn more strict for some time due to misbehavior and constant problems that caused nothing but more work for the staff. Then for quite the while the rules relaxed again along with the changes of the forum rules and policies (i.e. the staff is not babysitting anyone. Unless things get properly out of hand or there's a complaint of someone being offended the staff won't act).
Now, the staff's come to the conclusion to remove any association with the server from the chat. The chat remains, but it's not Mesalia's. We take no responsibility for what goes on, who's in it, or uphold any rules on it.
The suggestion was first brought up by myself after I'd been doing some evaluation of Mesalia and looked upon past, present and future. A closer look and consideration of the chat only brought me to realize that not only has it been causing more harm than good but a Skype chat is really difficult to actually monitor. It's caused the staff much unwanted and unneeded stress and I'm almost certain it have also applied to quite a few regulars over the years.
For communication the community fairs better with using the forum and the server itself. These things we pay for with donations ontop of it and we should make use of both.
