Age of Beginnings/First Age
Our world was made of three Realms. The first was the Celestial Realm. The Realm and its populace, a blue-eyed race known as Lucins, gathered their powers from the sun. The second was a Realm which countered the first, called the Dusk Realm, home to its own race of red-eyed beings named Xitians, who acquired their powers from the moon. Both races, Lucin and Xitian, possessed powers to control the elements. The Lucins could control Water, Aether, and Air; the Domain of Light, and the Xitians could control Earth, Fire, and Nether; the Domain of Shadow. We were nothing compared to the Lucins and Xitians, for we were without powers and a Domain. We resided in the third and least populated Realm: the Middle Realm, home of the Vagrants. That was the name we called ourselves in those times, for that was what we were: roamers of the Middle Realm, without permanent homes or settlements to bind our hearts or spirits...For a long time, the three Realms lived separately, remaining oblivious of each other's existence. Then, a mysterious and nameless race came forward and claimed the royal bloodline. This bloodline, composed of those more god than man, was blessed with incredible abilities which displayed power far beyond those of the Lucins and Xitians. The bloodline provided many great rulers, but the greatest was Salazar - or Emperor Salazar as he was known by his people - who had possession of a certain ability that could allow him to travel Realms. It was with these powers that he created the eminent Portals in our world which united the Realms, allowing trade routes which prospered within the empire for many centuries. The Lucins and Xitians finally discovered the existence of their neighboring Realms, and being opposites of each other, the two races naturally conflicted. They say if it were not for the laws of the empire, the countering Realms would have been at war. However, all this was unbeknown to our kind, for our people had not discovered the Portals, and thus knew nothing of the other Realms, and although the Lucins and Xitians knew of the Middle Realm, not even Salazar himself knew of us and our insignificant existence. The Lucins once told our people how Salazar made many wise decisions in his time. They told tales of how once, he and his Seven Sages, wise masters of the elements who only appeared in crisis, saved our Realm from a corrupting force: another Realm containing more Nether than the Dusk Realm, known as the Nether Realm. The tales say he restored the fragile balance between our Realm and the Nether Realm by entrusting powerful elemental Crystals to his sages, who sealed them away in the Forbidden continents of our Middle Realm. They told us other stories too, of his dedicated attention to his people and how he addressed their needs, though the Xitians thought otherwise. In those times, it was no secret that the Xitians were commonly not in favor of the empire's laws. Salazar was more god than man, but in spite of this, he too was capable of fault. Two faults, in truth: his children - twins - whom he loved dearly and spoiled. He named the girl Rhise and the boy Umbriae.
