[9] Rules Revison [Town/Guild/Clan/Etc Rules]
#1
The staff have been working long and hard with this rule revision. It is a full overhaul of the rules to fill in gaps that have popped up over time. This is generally how rules progress. Someone does something, staff need to figure a solution and new rule or policy, repeat again. In the end one ends up with more fleshed out rules.

We're now more or less done for this time, but this is where YOU come in, as a player. Since this is going to be us going through all the rules you will all have a say in this. This is important. If you have suggestions or ideas it is time to present them when this revision goes on. Decisions are final. We'll be going through the different types of rules one by one. The rules to go through are (so much work to do):

General Rules
Chat Rules
Forum Rules
Metagaming Rules
Powergaming Rules
Building Rules
IC Death Rules
Stealing Rules
Town/Guild/Clan/Etc Rules
In-Game and In-Character Policies
Activity Policies

A poll will be posted in each thread for simple replies if all you got to say is "okay". It will also work as deadline for each issue.

SUGGESTION:

TOWN/GUILD/CLAN/ETC:

TOWN/GUILD/CLAN/ETC RULES
1. Before making a Town, Guild or City you need at minimum
  • A leader.
  • A co-leader. (A co-leader may be OOC. The point of a co-leader is that your town or guild is looked after should you take a long absence.)
  • At least two members. (Other than the leader and co-leader!)
  • Base materials (does not apply for guilds).
  • A good place to build your Headquarters, Town or City (does not apply for guilds).
  • Location approved by staff before you start to build! (does not apply for guilds with no plans of making headquarters)

2. A town/guild-thread should be posted after a town/guild is founded
  • This needs to include a good background story as to why it's founded, how and by who.
  • Do not post a guild/town thread until you meet the requirements!

3. Important is to do all recruiting and building ICly to not break any rules.

4. A place/group where the following criterias are fulfilled are a town/guild and requires a thread to be posted.
  • 4 characters live at the same place/are part of same group.
  • There are at least 3 functioning buildings at that place (does not apply for guilds).

Okay, personally I find most of these rules unnecessary and confusing, and I have one question to start off. What is the definition of making a town? Is it when you start planning? Is it when you start getting resources? Is it when you start building? Is it when you start operating the place? Is it when the town gets a government? This question needs to be answered and put on the rules before any meaningful progress can be made.

Definition of making a town:
When the demands in the rules are met, you've made a town.
OR when you manage to meet demands in the rules, you may create a town.

Admittedly... these rules are soon 3 years old. They originated from a time where other rules didn't as easily regulate the current problem with people covering the map with towns or guild centers they just left abandoned after a few days. A time when RPs were too easily split by people for OOC reasons just moving to wherever it was currently 'cool' to live ICly.

Some of the demands are needed, purely cause you do need for example co-leader, members, location... etc. But when it comes to it otherwise I wonder if it isn't simply easier/better to just ask staff for permission. We didn't do that back then simply cause we wanted to allow people more freedom while not having too much. Now though, it's different times.
